I have a GPS mount that I modified to use the 1 inch mount. I put this ball in each of my cars for easy transportation from car to jeep, RV or SxS. I have minor issues with slippage other than the occasional slippage of the SxS over rough terrain. I just have to remember to spin it a little harder before hitting bumps.

Color seems to be missing under the ball. I have 2 photos, one ball is open and the second is not open, still in the original packaging. Both are missing color around the base of the ball. Not sure if it's due to a lack of quality control of the product or something else, but it seems like it could be better. Even without hardware to install this? 2 screws and 2 nuts cost 10 cents.

I have bought several of these. The quality is consistently excellent, the mount is flexible but very reliable. The RAM Mount's ball mount system is a bit clunky because it's overkill for most uses, but it's exactly what I want when mounting an expensive phone to the handlebars of an adventure bike that can ride potholes and washboard dirt roads .

I ordered this knowing the mounting screws were NOT included. The screw sizes suitable for this are M5 style. I bought an internal mount for my truck to mount a few small things so I ended up using M5 .80 threads and they work great. In general, however, this is RAM.
