It didn't help much in the early stages of my back injury when the pain was very bad. It just didn't give me that much support. Back then I had to use a leather weight lifting belt. But after the first four days I was able to switch to this orthosis. At this point I found it very helpful in terms of comfort support and pain relief. This brace is still in great condition after 6 months of wear. The velcro is as good as the day I bought it, it doesn't fray anywhere. What's missing is extra padding on the back for extra support. The product will only function properly if you select your size before purchase as indicated in the instructions. Don't listen to customers who say the size is wrong. I did and got one less than I need which doesn't work because it opens when moved. I had to reorder for a larger size. My waist is 45 inches at its widest point. You can easily wear it over or under your clothes. Velcro is very sticky - it's great. The straps can really be tightened if you need extra support.
