Worked as advertised, variable beep relates to proximity. I didn't find it too sensitive as other people have commented on reviews. Maybe the product has been updated, but it does differentiate between sources an inch apart. On fuse box, tested those double contact fuses and could find one where one of the contacts had no current and the other did.

I used it on everything from USb, 12vdc and 120v ac circuits, I even got it to indicate low voltage on my Dogs Noses. So maybe it is a bit to sensitive. But hey we live in a very PC world so a little more sensitivity will keep me out of trouble. or maybe not lol ;-). Overall it work as advertised on what I needed it for.

I had a really cheap one before this. I really like this one. I love the bar gauge. Great value for the money! Thanks for attention.

The small LED light is dim but the detector works well at both 110Vac and 12Vdc. It also clearly differentiates between high and low voltage, neutral and hot, and has a good, legible bar graph.

The ability to check for a live circuit without removing cover plates is a real time saver. The builtin flashlight is handy also .

Easy to check circuits when on a ladder and also to make sure appliances are wired correctly.Light could be a little brighter.Overall,great buy.

I agree w/the low ratings. Don't understand why there are so many positive ratings. Do I have a bad unit? Do I not know how to use it properly? My unit is inconsistent coming at a known wire repeatedly from either the same, or different directions. I've a whole hallway whose both side walls are "hot" just about everywhere, and inconsistently so. Perhaps my unit is too sensitive. I just want one that will help me map a wire down the wall within one inch of either side.
