    Good but better routers available

    Netgear routers were generally their weakest and least reliable products, as opposed to their switches and hubs. I have used Netgear RT338 ISDN routers in the past and they lasted less than 2 years before failing. I believe FR114P will last around 3-4 years in our office before DNS, reboots and other failures. They work great, although there are no problems starting. We just keep some of them as backups and then flash them with the latest updates from the Netgear website. I think they're still…

    There should be a stricter lockdown in the market.

    My first device was defective. The second block works fine. This firewall works like a charm and has enough configurations to make it a great solution. It turns out that this is very suspicious due to the small amount of additional power. Make sure you have high-quality surge protection. PS: Hats off to Revain. After I received an RMA for the first unit from Netgear, Revain actually sent me a new one before they sent the defective unit back. Everything is free for me (no shipping etc.). That's…

    Should have left my RP114

    Terrible product. I "upgraded" my Netgear RP114 to this product to get rid of my software firewall. Well I wish I hadn't. I get constant hangs and disconnections on both the WAN and the LAN. Significantly slower internet access compared to the RP114 it replaced (although I'll attribute that to a true SPI firewall). Finally, after many years of good technology.     Print server is useless

    FR114P Firewall/Router is great and easy to set up, but print server is useless! I have a Canon i850 running Windows XP and the print speed drops so much it makes me want to cry. When printing graphics, it literally stops for a second or two after each pass of the print head. After installing using the recommended method (Netgear's Virtual Firewall Printer Port), I found a tidbit on their website with two cryptic suggestions that suggested installing the printer through a Windows LDP/LPR port…

    Finally! Something high-tech that practically installs itself. No stress. No user-hostile experience. Why did I buy this?     Great product and easy installation

    I have three computers at home, two of which I built myself. I needed a way to share my internet connection, share files between devices, and share a printer. I had a D-Link router that worked fine, but my main computer had to be up to print. I didn't like it at all. So I decided that I need a print server.
