After a lot of trial and error this thing worked. I basically bought it because it had 8 LAN ports and wireless capability. The wireless connection was extremely weak and was a tenth the performance of my previous router. I sent it back a week later. If you are a home user and people call you when something goes wrong on your computer, stay away from this product. This will only give you, your friends and family a headache.

A very affordable firewall. I like that I can close all outgoing ports except for the ports used by home users. If malware enters a computer from behind a firewall (e.g. by clicking a link in an email), it cannot connect to the C&C server, effectively shutting it down. This is my second Netgear VPN router. My first was a 100MB 318. I ended up having to replace the old unit after 15 years of service and I didn't want anything other than Netgear to replace it. I am very happy with the new model. Updated firmware before setup. I believe it was necessary for reliability. There were no problems installing the block. I would recommend this device to anyone looking for a VPN router. I believe the secret to setting up new hardware is patience and knowledge.

This item is very good in its functions. More intuitive screens and a better interface design would be better. Whatever it is, it takes longer than some other interfaces and some things are hard to find and some aren't where you'd expect them to be, some are buried deep in tabs and under tabs, and it's all time consuming.
