I don't know what people are talking about when they say this thing doesn't work and it's very strong, much stronger than I expected. The flashlight is out because it can't be powerful enough unless they try to clean up behind the pines.

I tried it because I was tired of the cheap manual ones. It was easy to assemble and worked as advertised right from the start. The only problem is that small rocks sometimes get sucked in, but all you have to do is pull out the impeller and shake them out. Otherwise great and works as expected!

Only used once so far but I've done a direct comparison and it removes solids from my tank better than my regular siphon. Gravel during water changes, plus it's very easy to use and helps keep your aquarium clean between large water changes. It worked fine for picking up hard guppy poo in my 10" and 20" long tanks without additional filter media, but I might try adding a little to see how it works with smaller particles. The suction power is not strong enough to draw snail shell fragments into the filter, and not enough to be used comfortably in a gravel bottom aquarium; The filter chamber is difficult to remove, and the top and bottom are difficult to remove for cleaning.
