Less is better before amplifying the audio signal.

I really liked the transparency of my music after using the Nobsound passive preamp volume control to bypass all internal signal processing like tone, balance and volume controls on my receiver and preamp. You'll be surprised how good it is that the source is only driven by one power amp. Very clean, fast and open sound.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

ALP's are some of the best, prettiest potentiometers on the market and are used in thousands of dollar amps as well as a plethora of professional gear, and you really feel it with this knob. Basically just buy this piece yourself. costs around $35-40 from parts suppliers. So this little passive preamp is a pretty good deal. they probably make next to nothing of them after all is said and done. We recommend.

Verified Alpen RK27

Just writing this to say I bought the listing advertised as the Hi-Fi version and it included the Alps RK27 pot advertised. I bought this to keep my power amp in use while waiting for a new preamp to be delivered and it did the job well. Nice little useful element to always have on hand, even if it's just for testing. I didn't run channel balance tests or anything, but my center image didn't move or suffer. The case and cinch are very pleasant to the touch.

Ideal for me! - Home Theater

My Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX computer speakers are over five years old and while I liked them, the volume control has always been jittery, especially lately. And now when I adjust the volume, the sound is muted on either one speaker or the other. I've found spots that work, but I can't play my audio all the time. Moving on, I'm "discovering" the tube tone I can't live without now, and while I had hoped my preamp would be my new volume control, I can't get the most out of it without cranking the…

Perfect. suitable for receivers and amplifiers

I was quite skeptical about buying this product but I checked the seller and confirmed that this is the same company that makes this unit. I think there are fakes out there so keep an eye out. The volume control has a great feel and takes the edge off a "hot" source for my setup. I like to "manage" the volume while listening/working, so it's nice to have a little black box next to the keyboard and mouse so I can make small adjustments depending on the source material. I was looking for a volume

Extremely non-linear volume control

The build quality of this unit is excellent: solid metal, a smooth and well-damped knob, and serious RCA connectors. Unfortunately, the bank is VERY non-linear. At 95% of the knob travel, the volume is 5% of maximum; The volume quickly jumps to the maximum in the last 5% of travel. In a small portion of the mid-range between 5% and 100% volume, the left channel is noticeably louder than the right. Needless to say, this makes it completely useless as a volume control. Instead, it's an extremely…

So I bought a couple of subwoofers that wouldn't connect as I thought

I've been looking for a while to find something that will save me from being attacked with sound (again), how i was when i finished initial connection die up (it was bad, very, very bad. I didn't even go for a week). After a few errors (no subs connected) I found this. Did I mention the pen? No? For real? There is a handle. seems to relax, even calm down. so smooth, so big, so hard. so very precise in the volume control. It took my 2.0 system, additional RCA jacks on another selector switch to…

volume control. No longer. Not less.

It replaced the Schiit Sys with a fancy potentiometer that didn't do anything for the first 1/3 turn. It wasn't a precision device. I was very pleased with the quality of this little device. It sits between a Tinker Board with a Volumio/Meridian Explorer2 DAC and an Emotiva Mini-x A-100 in my living room stealth system. The Knobsound output is split so that it is also fed to the Infinity Reference Sub R12. The knob sound is absolutely quiet, which is to be expected from a passive component. The
