Great for tracking planes

WHY I BUY THIS: I'm not a pro, I was just looking for an ADS-B receiver to track planes using the Flightradar24 platform since I live near an airport and I'm always curious to see what planes are flying over my head. Of course I could just use a website to track flights, but I love making things with my hands and wanted to create something myself. DOES IT WORK: It suits my needs perfectly: I connected it to my Raspberry Pi 3 and was able to follow the instructions easily. on FlightRadar24…

Inexpensive alternative to ADS-B Weather and Traffic with a bit of RFI

Connected the device to my Android phablet via an OTG cable, launched Avare ADS-B by HIZ LLC and within seconds was tracking planes with fly overhead at a frequency of 1090 MHz. In flight with data at 978MHz it was just as easy. There is only RFI on the avi band when the software starts controlling the receiver, which requires a moderate increase in the squelch setting, fogging or canceling out some distant signals. RFI is audible at 118.075MHz and peaks between 122.7 and 123.075MHz, with…

Great ham radio toy

I bought this little fella because I thought it would be a great way to learn about some parts of the local radio scene without spending a lot of money. This and more. A few little things first: the software you can get for them isn't exactly intuitive. I had a little trouble running SDR Sharp on this device. The antenna connector is tiny; I think this device would be very useful with a better antenna than the stock one, but it will take some time to find an adapter to convert the device's…

Just amazing on external TV tuners

Works perfectly! the best among external TV tuners

was damaged I got this for two reasons. One for playing around with ADS-B signals and also experimenting with it as a ham radio receiver. Installing the USB drives for this was the only part of the setup that took any time at all. Once that was done, I could easily use it for both purposes. With the included antenna and rtl1090, I can see planes on the plane plotter about 40 miles from my location. With HDSDR, it is well suited for receiving signals in a variety of frequencies and modes. Of…

Simply Amazing: Computers & Accessories

The product itself is ok, but no support.

Works mostly but for some reason they are shipped to work out of the box as a TV tuner and not an SDR. It would be nice if the Linux support was a little worthwhile. The email they send you to replace the drivers is out of date for both the version of Ubuntu (listed as 17.04 and the current 20.04) but not even for the correct product. Personally, I had hoped to use it to hear ham radio frequencies, but the complete lack of documentation made that endeavor impossible. At least I can hear low…

The title says it all. the same offset is 15ppm in dialing and the drift runs from +0.01/0.02 to -0.01/-0.02ppm. I would suggest getting a USB extension cable to keep it away from other electronics as they pick up signals quite well. I had one pretty close to the TV and found out I was going to need a new TV soon (I noticed some mess adjusting the TV volume. Gotta love the waterfall on those SDR programs!) So far these two are working flawlessly! Reception for using SDR? I can not complain. The
