Description of 📻 NESDR SMArTee v2 SDR - Premium RTL-SDR with Integrated Bias Tee, Aluminum Enclosure, 0.5PPM TCXO, SMA Input: Unleash the Power of Software-Defined Radio

An ultra-low noise software defined radio, capable of receiving nearly ANY RF signal from approximately 25MHz-1700MHz. Includes SDR only! For a full package with an antenna bundle, please see http://www.amazon.com/dp/B079C4S2BT. Unmatched price & performance--redesigned PCB reduces noise by an average of a full 3dB! Includes all the same fantastic features as the rest of the NESDR SMArt series, including an ultra-low phase noise TCXO, with a guaranteed <0.5PPM tolerance out-of-the-box. This is at least 4x more accurate than units advertised as containing 1PPM TCXOs, which have up to a +/- 2PPM initial offset. Same form factor as the other devices in our NESDR SMArt series, which means no USB occlusion issues--run devices side-by-side without messy extension cables or adapters, even on embedded devices like the Raspberry Pi!. Always-on, 4.5V bias-tee with independent ultra-low-noise power supply and 250mA power capability allows you to power nearly any active antenna circuitry without messing around with drivers or software. Designed and manufactured by Nooelec in North America. Impeccable quality and full 2-year warranty!.

Boy does she get hot but it works!

Gets bloody hot, especially when you plug it into your laptop outside in the sun (I live in Florida). Despite the heat, it works! The longest I've run was probably 30-45 minutes and it worked out well. I captured local air traffic and the NOAA weather channel. I didn't find anything on UHF/VHF. I'm just looking for more things to do with it! I'm thinking of hooking it up to a RaspPi to see what I can do remotely. The possibilities with SDR are exciting!

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Great SDR bias tee for computers and accessories

Needed a new SDR with bias tee to power my Sawbird LNA to download NOAA weather images take care of. Connected to raspberry pi, works great and powers the saw. Check the nooelec website for cubic SDR software and drivers if using a PC.

Pros
  • High marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • Could be damaged

Period didn't work. Instructions not available

Mine never worked. They should only contain software that uses the drivers to get the little guy up and running. Follow all instructions and don't roll the dice. Return the item.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Very expensive

What I Searched For in Computers & Accessories

Ideal for powering the NOAA Nooelec SAWbird+ device as it provides the correct voltage. The SDR also fits better into the USB port than the other familiar silver SDR v3.

USB connector design flaw

The USB connector does not protrude far enough from the metal case, causing several PCs and several USB extension tables to loosen. The slightest movement of the block will result in a shutdown. I tried the second block with the same result. It's a shame, because the radio itself actually works quite well. Tech support insisted it was the drivers or the weight of the device, which is pretty funny. No problems with competing RTL-SDR v3 modules. Return both blocks to return.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • It's hard to remember, but it was

King Kong Key!

This was my first purchase from NOOELEC after being disappointed with the competition (I won't name but their initials are RTL-SDR). Very happy with the performance. The fact that it's made in the USA and Canada is a HUGE plus too! Highly recommended!

  • Beautiful

Stable and sensitive

I ordered SMArTee to replace an old NooElec SDR dongle to use with an RF upconverter as a second receiver and band for my ham radio transceiver. It worked right away with my existing settings, drivers and software (HDSDR). From a cold start, while monitoring WWV, after drifting a few tens of Hertz in the first minute, it stayed stable for over half an hour, which I observed at least with the resolution I had in my setup, and of course right after everything what I need for my use. After doing…

Great starter SDR, get a

for a complete kit including antenna kit This NESDR SMArTee v2 SDR is working well after 3 weeks of heavy use almost every day. Feels warm, but that's okay. I didn't notice any frequency drift as the Smartee v2 gets warm after an hour of use. I also have a NESDR SMArTee XTR SDR that I was comparing. I just don't know why RTL-SRD v3 has a wider 500kHz-1700MHz frequency range than Smartee v2's 25MHz-1700MHz frequency range. The improvements I would like to make to these NESDRs would be releasing…
