Norpro 1715 Black Potato Masher Review

My potato masher arrived smashed as it was packed with other items. I sent it back. I don't think it's strong enough. I also don't think it's made by Norpro. The only Norpro name is on a piece of paper taped to it.

I've looked at MANY pushers. We had just gone vegetarian and I wanted the puree to be beans. I've had it for a month now, it's strong, easy to use, my hand doesn't hurt. It's easy to rinse out and clean in the sink (I don't even have to touch it) before putting it in the washing machine. It has survived 3-4 uses per week and the washing up perfectly.

This grinder is much faster and grinds beans better. Every week throughout the summer, I make my version of egg salad or tuna salad, but with beans. Beans are so good for us and I use 4 cans of beans and lots of turmeric which is good too - as an internal antiseptic for cleansing. It took me forever to mash the beans with my old flat stainless steel round-hole tamper. This tool works so much better and I get the job done in half the time. It's also dishwasher safe. This cookware is too big to fit in the drawers of my kitchen cabinet. Mine are quite small, and while I can store all the other spoons, ladles, spatulas, etc., this chopper needs to be put somewhere else. I have to keep it in a lower drawer where I keep all my plastic grocery bags. Annoying that it is not at hand with the rest of the dishes. I don't just use this masher for potatoes! Good for potatoes, but I use them to make delicious guacamole. Take softened avocados, lime juice, cilantro, finely chopped red onions, salsa and/or some diced tomatoes, some spices, toss in a bowl and mash to desired consistency. Delicious! I wash my coffee grinder on the top rack of the dishwasher and it's great. A bit tricky in the drawer as it gets stuck if something is underneath but I like this tool.
