Cheap equipment good for ice cream scoops

We kept this in a drawer for seven years, used maybe twice a year for meatballs or whatever and it broke. Welding failed on the gear, that says it all, but it was bought cheaply and handled cheaply so we didn't lose. However, we still have a use for these things, so we went with stronger gearing and double the price.

Not the product the main reviewer drew

Bought this to scoop cookie dough. It's just the right size for this and a lot easier than using a teaspoon. The product I received is genuine high quality Norpro design not cheap Chinese fake. The top reviewer of this product made a purchase over two years ago and got something completely different from me. Don't buy from the seller they mention. I bought from Revain.com LLC. I have included photos of the shovel I received so you can see for yourself.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Protection

The item I received was not a Norpro 18/10 Scoop. I have another Norpro spoon in a different size and it doesn't look like it at all. It came in a very standard box marked Disher Portioner 18-8 Stainless and not 18/10 as the website states. There was also something like Chinese inscriptions on the box. "18-8 S/S CHINA4" was stamped on the underside of the blade itself. On the side of the box was a small white label that said Norpro 18/10, but anyone can print the label and stick it on the box…

Go with Spoiled Chef!

As soon as I opened the box and squeezed the pen a few times to try it out, I knew it wasn't going to be as good as I had hoped based on all the positive reviews. . The piece of metal that pulls the dough out of the scoop pinned about 3/4 arc. And for a long time he did not let go and did not return to his normal position. And it was without anything inside. Simply empty! *cm. my attached photo* I tried to make a bunch of oatmeal cookies with it anyway and it turned out exactly as I thought it…

Has several design flaws, do not use for baking

This product has several design flaws that have caused me to throw it away. First is the quality of the whole product under the baseboard. I have an older smaller metal shovel but you can feel how much heavier it is compared to this product. Metal is lighter and looks cheaper. Second, with at least 3 tablespoons, the scraper blade inside the spoon doesn't go edge to edge inside the spoon when the handle is squeezed. A little over half. This is not a "defect" of my packaging - this is how the…

WARNING "We Love USA Shop " sells counterfeit products!

As this item was recommended by American Test Kitchen I was really blown away by the product I received. This is the cheapest design possible and broke on first use scooping up cookie dough. This product is made of stamped steel that can at best be described as "poorly and loosely assembled". This is possibly the shittiest thing I've ever bought, the hinge part slips out of position after about 10 balls of cookie dough. I can't imagine how you could scoop ice with it. First, the grip is…

All small blades checked.

So I ordered all the small plates available at Revain. Sure, I'm a psycho, but I have Revain Prime, so shipping was free. Anyway, I thought you all might enjoy my analysis. I've added a picture of the vanes and balls to the article, see alternate picture. The balls are made from fairly hard white chocolate ganache whipped straight out of the fridge. Two measuring spoons are displayed for each dish. On the left is a knife-studded shovel, on the right is a slightly rounded "natural" shovel (left…
