Breaks ties. - Tarp and Cable Tie

This Klein cable tie tightener works very well and like most Klein tools is a quality tool. I have found that you need to use new or newer nylon. Ties, otherwise this tool will break them. I had a bunch of very old ties that had been lying around for 20 years or more. This tensioner will break those ties because it provides way more tension than those old ties can handle. Hey, at my age I can't take too much stress either! than i want to count This tool seems to have too much power - or atโ€ฆ

Why didn't I buy this a long time ago?

If you use nylon straps and tighten them with your hands, and then cut off the excess with something, you are (like I have been for many years!) an ignorant fool. Why did it take so long to get one of these? Fast and incredibly easy - it just works great. You can adjust how tight your tie is by simply pressing it tighter or tighter. And snap! - the excess is neatly trimmed. The tools are a bit counter-intuitive because you'll think (me, yeah) that the red cutter is facing you - you know, useโ€ฆ

Great tool but needs better instructions.

This tool is a replacement for the "cheap" tool I bought in the bin and used for 10 years until it broke. This tool is much better and in fact I can break it. The end of the tie came loose from too much pressure. You'll need to practice on a wooden dowel and/or a square plastic block to get a feel for it. The cutter is actually MUCH better than my old tool. It also works with a variety of tie widths. The real problem is that if you've never used such a tool before, you'll be confused as to howโ€ฆ

Amazing tool in hardware

I didn't know such a tool existed until a few days ago (I saw a link to one in the comments of a DIY video). I ordered this for my project using zip ties to attach a vinyl trellis to a 3/4 inch PVC pipe to make a trellis. It worked great. The zip ties were securely fastened and the "tails" were trimmed neatly without protruding, save for a few of the many attributed to user error. However, I must admit that when the tool first arrived and I quickly tested it at home, my hands-on attempts wereโ€ฆ

Use only as intended

The small pistol does its job perfectly. Up to 175 pounds connections are great. I tried it on 250 pound ties. Ties didn't go through the slit. Using a dremel I widened the gap. Now work on high watts. But when trying to cut the screed, the metal broke. Boiled again. Now, after this hack, he'll tighten the 250-pound zip ties, but he won't have the strength to cut them. It must be released manually. Still works well at 175 pounds or less. Just use it for your nominal work and it's a nifty toolโ€ฆ

  • Comfort grips
Cons
  • Protection

Then features a cutter so you can easily trim off any excess tape can material. It works better than all alternative tools and methods and works with one hand, leaving your other hand free to position the zip tie if needed. Very little manual labor is required to operate this tool. The cutting blade is designed for guillotine cutting and is angled to reduce the force required to cut when depressing the orange lever. The trimmer also makes it easy to trim excess cable ties without having toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Thread the end of the zip tie through the tip of the tool
Cons
  • The cord is shorter than other picks

It's a shame you can't find this in hardware stores.

Wow! If you've never tried a zipper puller before, you'll be delighted. This allows the tie to be tightened so much that it breaks. Most people reviewing this tool are using it incorrectly. It's not their fault - there are NO instructions. When I got it I said which end goes where? You install the cable tie as usual and tighten it by hand. For a zipper, place the tool on the tail with the small orange lever pointing towards the connector or closest to the item to be tied. Squeeze the big leverโ€ฆ
