I was able to install this myself, no extra hands needed. Installation overview: 1) Attach the top of the bracket to the ceiling. 2) Attach the lower part of the bracket to the projector. 3) Connect the upper bracket to the lower bracket, slide straight inward. Tighten the clamp. 4) Turn on the projector and set it to grid diagnostic mode. 5) Adjust with the 2 knobs on the bracket until the mesh is perfectly square. I bought this home theater mount for my basement. The ceilings are just under 8 feet high so I needed a low profile mount. This durable mount is what you need. Looks a little expensive for what it's supposed to do but works well. It was very easy to install and the controls are easily accessible and easy to use. I was a little disappointed that there were only 2 settings in the 3D world. The two knobs you get can control left-right yaw (yaw) and side-to-side pitch (roll). Great for all Optoma projectors and may fit some other brands if they are smaller. The only issue I had was that the buttons are soft plastic and still wobbled/stripped even when using a very large Philips head. I had to use pliers to adjust it, which was difficult because it was so close to the ceiling. I purchased this mount having recently used the universal mount to mount my Optoma HD20 projector. The BM-5001U is slightly more expensive than the universal mounts, but it's worth it. It's great that the plate fits exactly on my HD20 projector and then simply slides onto the base plate. I bought this for my flat ceiling mount for my UHD50 projector. The holes in the plate attached to the top of the projector do not match the holes in the projector. Called Optoma customer service and was told this mount does not work with UHD 50, although they claim it will fit most Optoma projectors. Of course, I wish it was clear on their website what goes with UHD 50. They recommended the Optoma OCM818W-RU, but the negative reviews for this mount didn't inspire me to play around with it. So…

This mount is exactly what I wanted for my projector. I like the low profile design as it was designed for my basement which doesn't have very high ceilings and feels very solid. It's pretty easy to set up all the angles and positions so you don't have to worry too much about getting everything just right as it's so easy to make post-installation adjustments.
