Description of Orange SUNLU Filament 1.75Mm - UV, Rain, And Heat Resistant Tough 3D Printer Filament For Outdoor Functional Mechanical Parts - 1Kg Spool (2.2Lbs) With 395 Meters

1 【SUNLU ASA 3D Filament】ASA filament is kind of very strong and tough filament, stronger than PLA filament and ABS filament. No clog, no bubble, no tangle, good layer adhesion, easy to use. 2【Super Neat Filament Spool】Spool Diameter: 8.00", Spool Width: 2.50", Spool Hub Hole Diameter: 2.20". The size of the SUNLU filament spool is suitable for hanging on a lot of FDM 3D printers. 3【1.75mm Filament Diameter】Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.02mm. SUNLU filament has wide compatibility due to the small diameter error, it's suitable for almost all 1.75mm FDM 3D printers. 4【Recommend Settings】We recommend printing at a nozzle temperature of 230-260°C(446-500°F), bed temperature of 80-120°C(176-248°F), printing speed of 50-100mm/s. 5【UV/Rain/Heat Resistant】SUNLU ASA 3D printing filament is great for printing outdoor functional mechanical parts, UV/Rain/Heat highly resistant. 6【SUNLU Professional Team】SUNLU is a high-tech enterprise specializing in R&D, production and sales of 3D filament, 3D printer, 3D pen, filament dryer, 3D resin and resin UV light curing box.

Poor adhesion and layer delamination

I've been using 3D printers at work, and at home, for a number of years. Printed hundreds of rolls of filament, in various brands. For the test, I used a Ender-3 S1 Pro 3D Printer. The first issue was adhesion to the build plate. This printer uses a Removable Spring Steel PEI Magnetic Build Plate. It didn't matter what temperature combination was used, the print would start peeling off by the second layer. I have another type of Creality magnetic bed cover, and it wouldn't stick to that either…

Pros
  • 3D Printing Supplies
Cons
  • The spool may not fit on all 3D printers

This is great basic ASA in a really dark charcoal gray, not truly black. This prints really smooth with excellent adhesion between 240-245C on my Fokoos and Qidi iFast. Even with an open frame printer, I didn't have issues printing it a 65F degree room, but the bed had to be at least at 90C. I got a tiny lift on a corner, but 100 had the best results, even without printing with draft shield enabled in CURA. The ASA held dimensional stability much better than comparable basic ABS printed right…

Pros
  • 1.75mm Filament Diameter
Cons
  • The filament may not be compatible with all types of 3D printers

Strong, but will take time to get settings just right.

It is really nice to work with, it took a bit to get settings right to be able to print with it. It does need high hotend and bed temps. I also found that the fan will cause issues with cooling too fast. So part of the dial in process you will need to get your fan speeds correct as well. I will do so more dialing in, but so far I am really liking this Filament, and I will be buying it again. I like working with it a lot more than PETG, much easier overall!

Pros
  • ‎Orange
Cons
  • The filament may be brittle and prone to breaking

This is great quality ASA filament. It's strong, heavy, and securely spooled. The quality of the prints is really great if you know what you're doing. If you do not, it can be difficult to achieve the results desired. If you're going to use ASA, you need to be comfortable making advanced changes in the printer settings to achieve the best results. Overall, great quality ASA that gives a solid finished product.

Pros
  • ‎ASA Strong 3D Printer Filament
Cons
  • The filament may be prone to clogging in the printer nozzle

Good ASA filament at a reasonable price.

I needed some ASA filament to print items going outdoors. This was a reasonably priced filament. It prints well for me. I've bought more since the first roll. 'Nuff said.

Pros
  • ‎SLUS-ASA-OR-1KG
Cons
  • The spool may be difficult to unwind during printing

I've used better ASA filaments

I have used several of SUNLU's filaments and have had no issues with their PLA or PETG versions so I figure they know what they're doing in this arena. The majority of my printing for the last 2 years has been functional outdoor hardware so I have moved to ASA filament because it is very strong and resists weathering very well. I have used 2 different vendors for ASA filament and have had no issues with either. I run them around 260 at the nozzle and 101 at the plate with about 10% fan speed…

Pros
  • Printed very well wasn't as difficult to get dialed in as other brands.Good price and shipping.
Cons
  • Bubbles in prints on the same day as arrival. Quality control must be dipping.

Simple to use as long as your bed can stay at 100c

Everything I read online said to be prepared for a strong odor while printing, but with this filament I didn't smell anything at all. For the first time using asa it was a lot easier than I thought. Get your bed to 100c and make sure it'll stay there. The smallest draft will lower the temps. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to try some.

Pros
  • SUNLU Professional Team
Cons
  • The UV resistance can cause discoloration over time
