I had to modify it to fit my 01 Avalon

The part didn't quite fit my 01 Avalon, I had to drill out the metal cover that goes over the ignition. Plus it was a great $40 solution for my situation.

Pros
  • . Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Periodicity

Will not fit in ignition switch and toggle switch

This was purchased for a 2000 Avalon XLS. It didn't fit. Revane's description specifically mentioned my car. I couldn't install it for a while and when I took it out of the box I realized it wasn't going to work. It is not possible to return it due to Revain policy so it is sold on Ebay and who knows if it will really fit.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Perfect fit for my 2000 Camry!

Fits perfectly on my 2000 Camry. As soon as I had the right tool to push the button, the old one was gone instantly. Note that the button is not fully depressed until the ignition key is turned to the ACC position. Make sure you do the same when inserting a new one. Ordering was easy and arrived on time.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • No

perfect fit, easy installation. no key transponder!

The lock is quick and easy to fit and the keys work well. If you have a security LED on the dash then you have a key fob and you must either disable the transponder or have a remote key locksmith code for a new lock. Otherwise, when you turn the key, the engine will turn, but the immobilizer will not allow the car to start.

  • Best
Cons

The OEM switch is not OE, but it works

Used this to replace a switch that had failed on my 260,500 mile 1999 Camry. I took it to a locksmith to set it up to use my keys ($20). Installation took about 30 minutes. Works perfectly. The finish isn't "finely polished" like the original, but a coarser hammered finish (not bad, but not OEM). Apart from the looks, my car is back on the road. I hope this switch lasts as long as a genuine Toyota OEM. Time will tell I guess.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

10 minute install puts confidence back in 2000 Toyota Camry

I watched a few videos online on how to replace this and after that I did it. It was about a 10 minute job. I was dealing with a 2000 Toyota Camry that was difficult to start because the key didn't turn often. The situation got worse to the point that almost every time I tried to start the car I had to jiggle or turn the key weirdly and try again and again. Before things got really bad, I decided to just replace the ignition lock cylinder. I was thinking of taking mine off and working on it but

Pros
  • Good item for the price
Cons
  • weak
