Original German Shammy Absorbent Bathroom Review

I wish I had found it years ago. They're just as absorbent as my old synthetic suede towels (from Trader Joe's), but they get far less dirty than those or cotton towels. I bought this towel set because my basement had a small leak during the rain and I needed something to catch the water. I cut a square piece off one of the large sheets I received. I'm not an experienced suede user so I don't know what is normal and what is exceptional. But they don't seem to be that absorbent. Are my expectations too high? Maybe. I remember those old ShamWow commercials and it seems like they have to collect more water and faster than they do.
