Mismatch and mismatch

I spent hours trying to get a good highlight out of this set before I took a closer look and realized the problem wasn't with me, it was with the instrument. The clamp was not threaded straight, but pressed at an angle. He was always on the wrong side when trying to flare up. Also, the size of the cutouts on the support bar was not the same on the top and bottom halves, which in turn meant that one side was always larger than the other. I bought another cheaper kit and was able to get a good…

Double bladder problems

The product description says it makes 1/2 bladder. When I accepted the project, I discovered too late that there was no 1/2" bubble stamp (not really a standard ISO size). He also has trouble holding steel cables. Afraid of making things worse by experimenting, I just pulled the lines and the local auto parts store had them repaired at their hydraulic line shop. So now I have an extra set of crimping tools, almost the same ones I already had. I got the official ISO metric. at least the lack of…

Great for occasional use

I think the most important thing to consider when buying a torch kit is how often you intend to use it. I work professionally on cars, but in the south. No snow, no salt. Very rarely do I see a rusted brake line. And the ones I see are cars owned by people who came from the north. So I can use this tool 2 times a year. In this case it is the perfect tool for this type of use. It's not a great tool. But it's a lot cheaper than a good hydraulic torch device like Eastwood or Mastercool. If you…

Overall winner: brake tools

forwarding agent late on the way. As I had a long weekend to replace the brake lines I couldn't wait for the delivery issue to sort itself out. I bought a more expensive kit from NAPA. I have decided to send this one back. I gathered all my papaya essence and persistently made endless double torches. After a while, the NAPA set started cracking the eye, which admittedly got a lot of stress. Over time I simply had to return the set I bought locally. So far this set has arrived. NIGHT and DAY are

You get what you pay for

Bought this six months ago to replace the brake lines on my old truck without taking it to a mechanic. After several attempts at using this kit to flare 3/16" steel brake lines, I've come to the conclusion that this is an awfully cheap imitation of a professional tool. First, OTC obviously saved some money on the materials. Make those Clamps so short that they are difficult to hold in a vise using a small 1" piece of steel hanging from the end. Another inch or two and it will be much easier to…
