First off, this tool is METAL, NOT PLASTIC. I don't know who said it's plastic, but it's not. Second, they use at GM dealerships to remove this line style. Saving time and getting more billable hours is a game. For the average DIYer, this is a must have tool if you have a GM. No more lost cloverleaf clips. They also fit some Chrysler van transmission lines.

are good so my strings were easy to access for the most part. The tool is quite small to hold and the handle part had to have some sort of handle added to it. However, GM, in its endless stupidity, bent its lines in such a way that the tool didn't fit the two ends of the radiator. I had to purchase another tool for this part called a cutting tool. I've done a lot of work on our CTS over the past few years but removing the transmission cooling lines from the radiator was impossible without the MFG tool. I spent a lot of money and failed. This tool was as advertised. It matched the GM line as advertised, but the line stuck. 120 miles of non-removal made it impossible to remove the lines. Bad GM design doesn't make the product I bought bad! If you have a high mileage GM, remove the lines with the help of a professional!

Used on a 2003 GMC Sierra work truck. Transmission 4L60E. There is no physical way for a normal sized person to reach into the available space to disengage the clamp and pull on the transmission cooling lines from the transmission side. This little tool helped me remove the transmission cooler pipes from my radiator. Here's what you need to do. Remove the small caps from the radiator coolant lines and then slide them over the coolant line (as if wrapping it around the line) with the notches pointing towards where you will insert the line into the radiator.
