Exactly what I expected.

Just received and already satisfied. I was worried it wouldn't fit in my 48 ounce bottle of Nalgene that I ordered with it, but it does. I wanted a smaller outlet and that's what I got. I will post a picture. I can't yet comment on the daily use and overall quality of the product as I've just received it, but I don't think the quality or lack of it will be an issue. I love that it closes so the lid doesn't smack you in the face while drinking.

  • Hard to say

Great top but difficult to clean

Really like this top and can't find any others so I'll stick with it. I like how it pops open so I can open it with one hand. Doesn't leak at all even when inverted (when fully closed). This top lasted me 2 years until the little tongue broke (see photo) and even after that with the silver hook in place it doesn't leak. The most important thing is the mold stain that never goes away. I don't think it changes the water quality in any way, but it's a mental thing. Why drink from something that…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Has a few quirks

I bought this cap to convert my non-insulated Blackthorne stainless steel bottles into sports bottles. They don't leak as long as you tighten them tightly. The spout is easy to drink like a sports bottle and the loop is easy to hold when the lid is closed. However, I see the issues others have pointed out. The latch and button feel pretty flimsy. I plan to always close with a metal clip. And the silicone spout seal works I think by pushing the seal apart when closed so I can see how moisture…

Shelf life approx. 6 months

Never leaks. However, black dots that looked like mold appeared on the silicone gasket. They showed up faster on the one I drink Mio flavored water from. I've washed it several times. I've tried vinegar, alcohol, and chlorinated water. These stains won't go away and it's just gross to see every time I open the lid to drink water so I stopped using it. They showed up after about 5-6 months for the bottle I use for plain water and about 2 months for flavored water. Nalgene water bottles are so…

Another Terrible Nalgene Cap Design

The design of this cover is wrong from the start. If you don't take the time to close it properly every time, it will break. If you carry it around, or even loosely close it with a metal object, all of the force required to depress the seal is transferred to the 1/4" piece of plastic in the hatch. This thin piece of crap showed signs of breaking within a few days of using this cap. The only positive thing I can say about this product is that at least it doesn't leak like other Nalgene lids (I…

Functional but only

The tab that holds the lid in place is very thin and made of plastic so it can be easily bent when force is applied e.g . B. when full water is held. bottle on the loop of the lid. Using a metal bracket is imperative, otherwise the plastic will eventually fail and the lid will not close properly. Even without breaking the tongue, it will eventually flex under pressure and this leaves enough room for the plastic retainer and spring to come out. locking mechanism. The tabs holding it in place are

not as strong as the bottles it screws on

Strictly speaking, it's just better than the standard screw caps that come on wide-mouth Nalgen water bottles. However, since it's more complex, there's a greater chance of something breaking. I'm pretty picky about outdoor gear and after summer camping, festivals, hiking and other events this cap has definitely started to fall apart a bit. The area where the top lid opens has lost a lot of stability, it will now open if you drop it without a metal catch, and if you close the lid tight enough…

To stay updated! Serious molding issue

As other reviewers have pointed out this lid has serious molding issues on the silicone interior. My original lid had a black stain after a few months, I've tried everything including bleach and vinegar, nothing helped. I decided to give it another try despite reading other reviewers' warnings. How could I be wrong! This time I tried to clean the lid thoroughly every day. However, after a few months, he developed a black spot, and then another appeared. The mold is growing. At first I thought…
