Makes the temperature warmer, not colder

Got this heatsink on an M Tried .2 Silicon Power 256GB PCI drive Due to the cooler the disc started to heat up more I would start my machine and the temperature would start at around 25C then rise and stay between 35-50C Without Heatsink would normally keep the drive temp around 40-45 C, with a heatsink the temp would rise and be kept between 44-48 C. I removed it and again immediately saw the temperature rise Warning: The one on M.2- The type of memory used in drives thrives in high…

Makes more sense in a laptop than in a PC

NVMe flash storage is rated for just over 40°C. It actually breaks down faster if you're writing at lower temperatures, but still better than overheating. Small form factor laptops or PCs benefit from better heat dissipation. In a PC with good airflow and away from hot parts, the heatsink can cool the flash chips too much. It is better to put a heatsink only on the controller and RAM chips. If you plan to use this heatsink in this case, trim the shroud to cover only the controller and RAM and…

Easy to use with instant results.

I didn't think I'd get this kind of temperature control in my space-constrained laptop with such a seemingly simple setup, but it easily drops the controller temp by 5-10 degrees without the memory temp dropping to 30 degrees in standby or over 60 degrees. when transferring data. The comfortable range is an average of 40-50°C for the memory and 40-60°C for the controller without going into the gas range (70°C). It is highly recommended to use a heatsink (or similar heatsink) for NVMe m.2…
