Strong Weight Cord

In case anyone is interested, I tested the strength of a static weight cord with weights. At 97 pounds non-stop. The smallest bell I had was an 18lb bell, so I added a total of 115lbs and the string broke. He broke the center line, not the knot, I used a plain bowline knot. I would say this string is good for 100lb static. I started with a 56 pound kettlebell and worked my way up from there. At 97lbs I actually threw some air so I'm pretty sure that's good for 100lbs.

Good small diameter thread

I bought this for making zips, shoelaces etc. It worked well for this, the orange color is bright but not disgustingly fluorescent (more like copper/burnt orange). ), but it stands out well against the background of the ground or snow. The reflective strips work well and are backlit by the light of a flashlight. This is a light line, but I think it would work well for canvas lines as well (although I might want something heavier as a ridgeline if it's windy). No complaints, I'll probably take…

Ideal for light hiking trails

Typical tent wires are heavier (not stronger, just heavier) and thicker than necessary, plus they almost never fluoresce or reflect light. I replaced my lines on two tents with these. They were made of ordinary nylon 2.4 mm thick. This new rope is not stronger, but lighter and brighter, and the knots hold better. If you have a very large tent and very high winds are expected I would recommend #275 paracord otherwise this cord will do. While they don't specify what type of paracord it is, it is…

NON REFLECTIVE - don't be fooled

Bought to use as an anchor for a new tent we were planning to visit this weekend. With Prime Shipping he had more than enough time to use it before the weekend. The woman wanted to use the reflective paracord as a zip tie to keep the kids from tripping over the tent's ropes and poles and injuring themselves or damaging the tent at night. When it arrived I checked it with a flashlight in a closed dark room - NOT REPLECTIVE. returned product. Now a replacement product from another supplier will…

great price and quality.

I ordered tent extensions but upon receipt I wanted something heavier. It's now split into a coil in the family pharmacy, a second coil in my backpack, and a third coil in my camping gear. Actually a pretty random mistake on my part. I have since ordered another paracord, thicker, brighter and more reflective, for use with tents as it all started when I tripped over a wire and broke my wrist. Once this has healed I will replace my tent cord with new material, using small hooks to attach it to…

Cons
  • Periodicity

A thin reflective filament

This is significantly thinner than the green Nite Ize. It only has a thin reflective filament, so it's also significantly less reflective than the Nite Ize cable, and it's a slightly softer cable. I prefer a stiffer tent line because it's less prone to tangling. However, if you want to reduce weight and use a reflective line, this is a good choice. Overall I think this is a great product for the money. I bought it to use for gear leashes like on my satellite communicator where I need something…

  • Sleek design

  • Nothing here

Ideal for DIY tent guy lines

Make your own lightweight, reflective guy lines. Most tents come with 4 guy lines and you usually need at least 5-7 guy lines to fully stretch the tent. Choose a light color (orange, yellow so you can see the string during the day) and cut into 8-10 pieces. Melt the cut edge with a lighter to harden it. Add a guy line tensioner (I used marshmallows) and you have some great, simple guy lines. You get what you pay for: Spend a few bucks more for a Paracord Planet cord that's less likely to…

Good tent/utility line NYLON CORE, colors have different weaves

TLDR: This line has a nylon core so it stretches. Blue has a smoother weave. Broke at 180 pounds. I compare this line to the reflective green line of Kelty Triptease (KT) and Nite Ize (NI). This Paracord Planet (PP) is a good middle ground between the two. Reflectivity: NI is the brightest because the reflective stripe woven into the shell is very wide. CT and PP are similar. Weave/Texture: NI is the roughest/worst, again due to the wide reflective stripe. Green and Orange PP are much better…
