📦 Pelican 1650 Rolling Case Without Foam - Black Review

Southwest Charges for Oversize and Over 50 Pounds. Empty, this suitcase weighs 25 pounds - not "light" as the description says.

Pelican for life brothers. I've cycled through SKB and Gator to save money and have always come back to Pelican. I only wish I had made this purchase sooner. Excellent as a work drawer provided you have purchased the 1655 Soft Divider Set and 1659 Lid Organizer.

This is a Pelican case. Not much to say about it other than that it's as durable as they are! I first bought 1550 while traveling a lot to/from Baghdad. The Iraqis loved destroying my luggage. 1550 is the only thing they failed on. I'm going to Germany for a few weeks and will use 1650 for the trip.

Rugged housing. Supports at least 150 pounds of weight when up. I use this to protect my belongings when I have to leave something important in the car. Has two lock holes for adding key/combination locks. Lots of bolts, but I'm sure it's locked with a good seal. This works great for what I need with enough space.

Superb Pelican box, ideal for transporting personal items. This box conforms to Post Office shipping standards for international sizes. It was also packed with clothing and personal belongings and weighed 0.05 pounds less than the maximum weight at post office! I definitely recommend this box for all missions.

There's a reason so many other companies have copied the Pelican case because they thought it was the best. The 1550 is a good size as it is deep, wide and tall enough for most devices and not too loaded to be unwieldy most of the time. Newer Pelicans like Air and others are not as durable as this original design. It's still a solid workhorse that gets the job done.

I travel a lot for weeks and often take RC cars and helicopters with me. Cases protect and secure/seal things well, while accessible inserts/organizers keep everything tidy and in place. All pockets and drawers allow me to take all my tools/spares/etc with me. I can need them and find them easily. With velcro on the ends of the dividers it's very easy to make/change the layout for anything I need.

I use mine as luggage as other suitcases fall apart after a few months so far so good. And when I'm with others, I can toss it in the back of my truck without worrying about rain or mud. The only downside is that it's heavy! But I can fly under 50 pounds and still have everything I need. No ticket seller gave me any trouble due to the size, I think it's 2 inches larger than most airlines. Feels very well made.

Almost bulletproof. I use it to ship fragile hard drives across the US. The unit is shot down on planes, but keeps everything safe. I've bought smaller units for smaller items with equally great results. If you need to protect something valuable and/or fragile, you've come to the right place. If needed, don't forget to purchase one of several inserts, they are not included in the kit.
