Description of Permatex 51813 6PK Anaerobic Gasket Maker

Ideal for on-the-spot and emergency repairs, or when a conventional gasket is unavailable. Fills gaps up to .015" and cures to a solvent-resistant seal that will not tear or decay during service. Parts disassemble easily even after extended service and old gasket material can be removed in minutes with a simple putty knife. Suggested Applications: Water pumps, thermostat housings, transmission pans, transmission case covers, transaxle casings, o-ring replacement. Sold in case packs of 6.

This stuff works great

This stuff works great to prevent leaks in high pressure and high temperature environments. I bought this based on recommendations I read and I used it to connect the transmission hoses on my car to the built in thermostat on the remote transmission cooler. I was skeptical because it seemed like it wouldn't dry out, but I haven't seen a transmission fluid leak since using this substance. I'm surprised

Better than liquid silicone.

I have used this brand several times to repair my Volvos. This is a liquid gasket that cures in an airless environment, which is why Volvo uses it to seal the oil pan and upper camshaft bearing. Best applied with a roller and I bought a cheap one from my local hardware store. Use it sparingly, roll it, bolt on the oil pan (or whatever) and the gasket will cure on its own. I've tried silicone sealant from the same company and they don't work.

I tried! - Gasket

Used for side engine cover. I just made a small hole to press it against the surface of the lid. Man, this stuff is very hard to squeeze out! Will have to keep working on it. It is good that there is no time limit to fix the details. In fact, you need to wait 1-2 minutes before assembling parts. I applied about 1/8 of the pearls. When I unscrewed the lid I had a washer maker pressing out the surfaces all the way around. So there must be a good seal. The tube is rarely used so should be good for

Good replacement for Subaru with Fugibond.

Used on Subaru STi 05' oil pan. I replaced the oil pickup tube with a Killer-B and also replaced the stock baffle with a Killer-B. Subaru does not use a gasket. The 4 rear bolts were full PITA but I've read a lot of things people have said to make sure the material used for the gasket to seal the sump has to be anaerobic. I wanted to use Fugibond but did NOT pay $70 for its little tube and only used it once. Sorry, that's just an insanely high price. This is highly recommended. I will say that…

this is a very good sealant for gaskets

this is a very good sealant for gaskets. When using this gasket maker you need clean surfaces and a sealant application and when you tighten the fasteners that hold these parts together the sealant doesn't work until you tighten the bolts or fasteners. This sealant is especially used for heavy equipment or anything they don't do more than seal. someone dear, but not me. I would recommend it to anyone who no longer needs a pad. It would be nice to make a gasket for something other than a…

Hey look Permatex! Do what is right.

Hey look, Permatex! Do what he has to do. I prefer to overspend and go anaerobic when my FSM requires it. Has never let me down, at least when I installed it, can't say the same of a mechanic who didn't clean surfaces when I paid him to do the job. Updated 4/7/21. This works great (original review 2014). Used on Jeep 4.0 Inline 6 Rear Main Oil Seal. After the first check still no problems. Also, this is the correct anaerobic seal for mk6 gti 2.0t cam belt/cradle (valve cover). Don't use…
