Works perfectly! Best in Sealants

I needed this RTV to replace the transmission filter on a 2010 Hyundai Elantra GLS. The filter I bought came with a rubber grommet but after watching a few videos I decided to just use this RTV instead and it worked great with no leaks or issues.

Pros
  • Specially formulated to protect against harsh detergents and additives in automatic transmission fluids
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Failure within 2 weeks

This was a bad batch or product overall. First, it was almost impossible to squeeze it out of the tube right out of the box. I've never used this particular application formula, so I assumed it was just their normal viscosity. Transmission pan sealed, all was good until I noticed a drip in the driveway a few weeks later. The seal has failed. All instructions were followed to the last detail, it was held more than 24 hours before commissioning and all bolts were tightened to specification.

Pros
  • Compound that resists ageing, weathering and temperature without hardening, shrinking or cracking
Cons
  • Nothing here

Three and a half years

It's been three and a half years, so I'm ready to consider. Used this after trying other pad makers that had failed. I had a transmission sump on our Dodge Caravan that was previously serviced by someone who overtightened the bolts and stripped some of them. I had to put bolts in those red Loctite holes so I could put nuts on the bolts to hold the transmission pan. The device for making gaskets without AT did not work. Something about AT fluid - it's somehow bypassed by a normal gasket…

Pros
  • Sensor-safe, non-corrosive, non-flammable, low-odour, non-toxic sealant that can be used as a gasket or bandage
Cons
  • ill-considered

I used this on the transmission pan after cleaning it of old gasket sealant with an aerosol can of gasket remover. I applied sealant to the pan and around the bolt holes. The only problem I had was that it was almost impossible to get it out of the tube. I don't know if the tube was old or damaged. I bought it in October 2018 and used it on March 4th, 2019. I have about half a tube left, but I don't think it's going to be used for any useful purpose. It's grey/black. I'll see if it holds up and
