🚘 Tuff Support 2-Piece Hood Lift Supports for 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner & Lexus GX/GX470 Review

I didn't realize how flimsy/poor the old racks were until these were installed. It's relatively quick and easy to install - if you can replace the wiper blades, you're qualified! I mean you have to use a wrench to remove the old studs and tighten the new ones. but well, it's easy!

Comes with all necessary screws and washers. Installation was easy. The factory GX470 was 12mm, to remove the ones that came with the replacement it's 13mm, that's the only difference. Assembly and installation was a breeze. Now when I pull the hood latch it pops up without worrying about it slamming high quality product. The product was made in Turkey.

Seems better than original racks. The original hardware had a 12mm screw, but this set included a 13mm screw. It may not matter much, but something should be noted. All new hardware is included and installs in about 5 minutes if I have a hood prop (or a friend) to keep the hood snug and secure. Would definitely recommend to anyone who owns a 4th gen 4Runner and wants to use it on the road.

My 4Runner is currently 15 years old so wearing parts are starting to fail. The hood struts began to give way. The dealer wanted to sell me a replacement for over $80 a frame. These replacement parts are essentially OEM, easy to install and fit perfectly. It's been installed for about 4 months and works great. This is a great solution for those who don't want to waste money on a dealer replacement.

I disassembled it and installed it for an hour and a half, at first I was upset and thought to return it. But once I installed the hood struts, they fit my 4Runner perfectly. For people who aren't mechanically inclined the instructions may seem a bit difficult to follow and after following the instructions for a long time I found a better way to install these hood struts and it's a lot quicker. But overall this is an excellent buy.

ATTENTION GX470 OWNERS: This is the perfect, well made direct replacement for the cheap fakes sold under the hood. After buying 2 sets of scrap these well made beauties made a huge impression on me. And yes, they include mounting hardware and the correct washers to install them properly. Many thanks to the New Jersey manufacturer for taking the time to point me to the correct part number and installation. Don't get confused with "one size fits all" and buy it now.

These hood lifter struts (for my 2005 Toyota 4Runner) were a perfect replacement for my old/worn luggage racks. I repeat, this is for the front hood, NOT the tailgate door!
