Easier to use than teflon tape

I was disappointed when I opened the box. I had a pasta stick that leaked out of the protective tube because the tube didn't have a cap. Maybe the cap just fell off, but such caps are usually difficult to remove. During shipping, the paste stick rubbed against every surface in the packaging, and instead of a sharp application tip, I ended up with a blunt end. After trimming I was able to use the paste, it didn't harm the product as much as it harmed my expectations. But I like the base product.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Very sticky for thread lock

Used to fix the threaded outlet on a pool pump tube that has been leaking for years. Tried regular pipe thread sealant as well as teflon tape, both leaked after a few weeks. Half expected it to be just as bad, but for a few months everything has been working and there are no leaks. The instructions say they should only apply to external streams, but I've had so many leaks that I've added them to internal streams as well. This stuff is very sticky, which is probably why it works so well. 4 month

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

ONLY works well with plastic/plastic threads when installed in a pool.

Worked well for large (2 inch) threads when installing my pool. Threaded, I used it to install a 20" whole house filter to seal the plastic housing to a 1" threaded brass nipple. So far so good I thought, everything was fine with the crimping. The next morning the first stream started leaking and a month later ALL streams were leaking so I just uninstalled the whole install. This thing creeps in streams and creates leaks over time. Not good. Conclusion: NOT SUITABLE for the metal/plastic…

Pros
  • Makes you happy
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Finally a thread sealant I can successfully connect without leaks

I don't do much plumbing but am fairly experienced at it but have struggled with leaks. I've found that with the most recent plastic hardware I've purchased here and elsewhere, there is sometimes significant thread misalignment in the plastic molding seam that runs through the hardware. I have learned that neither teflon tape nor teflon sealant should be used on plastic fittings. This sealant does not contain PTFE or other lubricants so it is suitable for plastic and being pencil shaped and so…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Why did it take me so long to discover this material?

I have been caretaker of 2 underground pools for the last 30 years. Pumps fail. The filter sand needs to be replaced. Gauges emit a genie. All of this normal maintenance involves tapered plastic fittings that can leak. I've used teflon tape, I've used silicone sealant, I've used tape and sealant together - and there's almost always an annoying leak in one of the fittings, sometimes requiring cutting new pipe to reseal the stupid plastic. conical fittings. Lo and behold, just before I started…

  • Great price
