Crystal clear water

I was dealing with a very problematic tank as the environment was high in VOCs which enriched the water and allowed bacteria and protozoa to thrive. This device seemed overkill for a 10-gallon tank, and maybe it is. However, it was easy to set up and ran for two months without maintenance. Much easier to maintain than a simple tank filter, the water stays crystal clear.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Cheaper than pet shops with more features and great work ethic

Delivery was on time, although sent with a delay it arrived very quickly. Very easy to set up, very quiet, all you need is a Phillips head. My 75 gallon edges are almost too thick for the included clamps, I had to take the plate out and let the screws do their job. Touching the intakes will get a bunch of air into your lines, but that's not a problem if it just lives under the tank. Sprayer is good, just wish it had a surface skimmer

Great filter! in filters

All O-rings lubricated before installation (silicone O-ring grease from car dealerships or hardware stores). Place the tubes in hot water to soften. Only used the parts I needed (half atomizer) to place the inlet/outlet on the back of the tank. Fill the reservoir to the top of the upper media compartment before placing it on top (approximately one gallon). Turned on and pushed the plunger 2-3 times, the pump immediately rose and blew a small amount of residual air through the spray tube. No…

Easy setup and great price

Fairly easy filter setup. I have no experience with canister filters and was able to set this up with no problems. It came with filter material which was a big plus because I didn't know what to buy. After doing a little research, I decided that I wouldn't use UV light all the time, just part of the time. The filter is definitely doing the job in my 60 gallon tank. I only installed this a few days ago so can't speak to its durability or quality over time but I would currently give it 5 stars…

Gets the job done and runs quietly

This canister filter is the best purchase for our 10 gallon tank. Very easy to set up. I changed the setup by routing the air intake through our biomechanical foam filter. The inlet pipe slid right into the top. I also modified the nozzle by first shortening it by 1 hole to allow it to be mounted short instead of across the back and then reduced the amperage by drilling through the nozzle and doubling the number of jet nozzles. was very clean and the air bubbles were clear and crystal clear as…

Hardware quality for filters

I would without question give 5 stars here because of the performance. However, I'm only giving it 4 because one of the PLASTIC inlet/return pipe bolts that attaches the pipe to the tank broke during tuning. This happened when I was trying to install the pipe in one piece. This could have been avoided if I had simply removed the plastic screw before attaching the hose. However, I didn't and ended up having to go to a hardware store to have it replaced with a metal one. Ultimately it was my…

  • There's something to it

  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Worked great! . for a little (1 month)

Worked great! . for a while (1 month). I didn't have time to play around with it and put it aside, and now that I'm back at it I realize what the heck it is. To be honest it was great for the short time it worked. . And I expected such a "rugged looking" device to have spare parts. One of the reasons I bought it was because I really like the affordability and flexibility of the filter media. If only the same could be said about functional components. There is no company information or contact…
