He came over and fixed my old patio door!

Hold the handle and the old screws. The screws that came with it were too big. It is locked by pulling the latch up. So just get used to this change. The instructions are useless and I finally realized that the letter bars are not required parts, they are options for your bar.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

It took a little time to work

I replaced the original sliding door lock with this one. This one feels sturdy but is a little less explored than the old one. It took some time to align it with the frame. I had to use one of the longer latches that came with the kit until it finally touched the steward.

Works just slightly different

Replaced handles on three sliding glass doors. This set of grips was a direct replacement and a great fit. The only real difference is that this lock slides up to latch where the old one slid down. When installing, you need to flip the receiver plate. The screws are long unless you use the optional handle. If you don't have a handle, be prepared to cut the screws 1/4 inch or so.

Why open-packaged products may not be the best choice

I recently bought a door lock in an open box. I've bought other products with no problem, but you always wonder why the item was returned - in this case because the previous customer overtightened the screw holding the latch hook. This made a striped carving that rendered them unusable. Revain should have recognized this problem before it was boxed up and sent to another unsuspecting buyer.

Pros
  • Outstanding overall performance
Cons
  • The list will go on.

Replaced original latches on several 1990 Anderson doors and windows that were corroded. The replacement was easy and required minimal modifications. These replacements work differently, blocking the originals by dragging them up instead of down. Required spacers on the door lock on some units to reduce the force required to open and close the locking mechanism. I cut spacers out of cardboard. An inexpensive way to update your door hardware.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Matching replacement

Bought to replace a similar original grip set which is broken internally. This fitted slightly differently and required moving the latch inside the patio door jamb about 1/8 inch. A word to the wise, none of this offers much security as they can easily be defeated by a determined burglar with a few simple tools. Consider additional security methods such as sticking a broom in a lower doorway or locking a window frame.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Empty

Installs in 5 minutes

My doors are old and the local brick and mortar manufacturers took me to their shops to no avail. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why the old lock wasn't working. The broken piece isn't noticeable until I take it apart. I don't usually read instructions until I'm stuck. I don't recommend not reading the instructions, but be aware that it only took 5 minutes to install, including a slight downward adjustment of the locking device it slides onto. My old set was white but I like this…

Not the most secure latch but easy to install.

This lock is almost identical to the previous lock (has a chrome back plate instead of the existing black one) so the installation technique was fairly obvious. I can't give five stars just because the design ultimately fails. With regular use, the strike plate will wear out over time from the impact of the hook. Not exactly a secure lock either - thieves can probably still open the door with enough force. However, it was just what I needed to easily replace my old shutter.

  • Finish: Chrome

Simple and easy assembly

A few months ago I moved into an apartment building and noticed that the patio door handle was broken. Part of the outside was missing, so the inside just flew back, leaving a hole there, which in turn let lots of insects through. I was able to install it in less than 10 minutes. I could probably make it for 5 but the directions on the box were very confusing until I just went with it. When I got the old handle and lock I could see how everything else was supposed to be installed. I only used…

Pros
  • Material: Cast Steel
Cons
  • Only available in white

I bought 2 of these, 1 to rent, another for my own home. The thickness of the sliding doors varied, but both fitted perfectly. It easily installs into any "standard" size sliding door lock, just align 2 screws and you're done for each side, it only takes a few minutes. It looks attractive and with all the different inserts it's easy to find one to lock your door with. A really great price that I am very happy with. I bought a Prime-Line C grip for this, same company, but there are no screws in…
