I have been using Helping Hands since I was a child. I buy for the third time. I don't know, remember what happened to my first one which lasted for years. I had one at work, but it was bought with taxpayer money and stayed in my office when I retired. So when I found out I needed it this week (odd how my 65-year-old fingers don't seem to be as dexterous as they used to be), I had to go to Revain because all the Radio Shacks had closed. I chose this one as it didn't bother me with an…
These tools are the best! Although I don't use them for soldering, I do use them in my art. I've used them to hold various objects while I was working on them as well as to hold the object while sculpting. It's a lot easier to have those "extra hands" with you. They seem pretty solid but I recommend using common sense when it comes to the weight you are trying to handle and the clamps are strong but I do not recommend being rough on them. But I believe if you take care of this thing it will…
I bought this to solder audio cables. The positioning and ergonomics are pretty silly, requiring two hands to adjust hand position. never mind The alligator clips are quite small so they cannot easily grab the audio cable. They're fairly strong, which is good, but the teeth will actually cut through the outer wire insulation on two-wire (or more) wire bundles. Damn. Well suited for single wire work as the insulation on single wires is much stiffer and will withstand sharp barbs. A better design
These little helping hands really help a lot! They have many positions and some height adjustments to help you with your project. The alligator clips are strong enough to hold a board with just one clip if it's on the smaller side, otherwise you'll have to use multiple clips. What I like best about this device is that it can be easily flipped back and forth for soldering. This was my first helping hand block so I was a little afraid of damaging the circuit board and wires so I put folded…
Three things make these Helping Hands great: simplicity, practicality, durability. It's simply because it doesn't have all the fancy (and often useless) lights and other stuff that isn't really needed. Half the time these things don't work very well or get in the way. This is useful in several ways. For example, alligator clips are removed with thumbscrews. Clamps are available at most home improvement or hardware stores. It's not bad. If they break or you want to use a different type with same
