Good performance, bad instructions

Purchased from Quiet! BK008 Pure Rock Slim to replace the brand new LED EL Cheapo I bought on Ebay for around $12. It looked cool, but that's where the "cool" part ended. Although I used the very good NHT thermal paste that Noctua uses, it was far from cool. This is an old Phenom X4 965 system that I wanted to revive so as not to waste money. The old LED was almost impossible to install on AMD clips and even more difficult to remove. I thought I would destroy my motherboard by removing it. be…

Excellent Cooler for Computer Components

PROS:* Excellent cooling performance. My i7-6700 stays between 19-23°C idle and 49-52°C under load.* Very quiet in normal use, even full fan speed causes a pleasant hum. (Of course it is included in Fractal Define C with all kinds of noise reduction). :* The cooling fins are very thin, so if you have to grab a piece of the cooler to get enough leverage to attach the fan clips, you have to be *very careful* lest it become a piece of hot dog for your fingers. The fins are also very flexible and…

Quiet and cool as expected; but a nightmare to install

This review is all about Pure Rock Slim which Revain inexplicably shares a product page with Pure Rock at the time of writing. This heatsink fits (!), runs as quietly as I hoped it would, and keeps things as cool as they should be. Your mileage will vary of course, but in my case it's both quieter and cooler than the old liquid cooler it replaced for me. However, installation is another matter. I've built my own computer many times, installing both desktop and server Intel processors and…

Quiet but hot (and not in a good way)

That's good enough for stock speeds on most CPUs, but stay away if you want to keep things cool. It's more or less useless if you need temperatures below 80C for real workloads like converting audio or video files, rendering or editing images, or other similar tasks that require the power of a modern processor. At 21°C, both CPUs I tried with it ran somewhere between 35° and 40°C. I ended up pulling out an old heatsink that I knew cooled well to confirm if I'd done any bad installation work…

Fully satisfied

Excellent cooler. The i5-7600K at 4.6 GHz does not exceed 80 °C at 100% load (with pre-applied paste) and the fan is very quiet. The cooler is a bit big but not too big, fits very comfortably in a standard ATX case and looks quite stylish. I like that copper heat pipes have metal caps on top to make them look cleaner. Also, it was one of the easiest coolers I've installed. Simply plug in 4 pins, secure the fan, plug in and you're done. And the price is quite steep - less than $35 after taxes…

Easy installation with Intel 1155

I was a bit hesitant because other reviews complained about installation difficulties, but I think most of these were for AMD systems. I bought this cooler for my Intel LGA 1155 system and the installation was very easy and straightforward. Remove the current cooler, remove the old thermal paste from the CPU, add some fresh thermal paste, align the new cooler and screw it in place. I did it in 20 minutes. a bit off center. In most cases, you want the larger half at the back of the case, which…

AMD stay away from it! THIS IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH AM4!

Just attempted to install this cooler. I have AM4 (Gigabyte from 350 mobo). The fact that this product says "AM4 Compatible" at the top of the page is driving me nuts! The clip used to hold the fan is not suitable for AM4. I had to unscrew the brackets from the motherboard and try to insert the cooler clip and then screw the bracket back onto the motherboard. This worked, but when you try to push the clamp to hold the cooler in place, it pushes the cooler down 3/8" (if not more). The big…

Just buy Hyper 212

instead I don't know why this cooler has good reviews. They probably had the best version. I don't know if that's intentional or if I just have a bad cooler, but the mounting pressure on this thing is pathetic. I figured it should be quick and easy since it's the same mounting mechanism as standard Intel coolers, but I was wrong. It simply refused to mount properly. Every time I tried to press the pins on both diagonal sides, the other two sides popped up. I checked the installation guide and…

Best value for a cheap CPU cooler

First off, if you're a PC enthusiast on a budget, the Pure Rock Slim options offer fantastic value for money. After unpacking the cool box, you could immediately see the quality of the product. You take the cool box out of the packaging and feel like you are holding it in your hands. As for the installation, thermal paste is already applied, which is very convenient. Installation was easy except for connecting the fan. When I installed it my motherboard was already in my case. I'm not sure if…
