Problem solved with the 7.5kW generator. It has a brass screw on the back that needs to be turned clockwise to get the desired output voltage for larger generators.

Bought to replace a broken one in my generator and it was useless. We then bought the original spare part, it works without any problems. Save time and money and buy a quality part.
