Wish it could be custom made for bassets. Sizes to fit the neck, pull the bottom at the tail and would be perfect under the belly if with puppies. If available, perhaps offer one with velcro around the chest, abdomen and hindquarters to ensure a fit and allow the fabric to be flexible to accommodate movement. If your dog is the right size, this product is great.

Our 105 pound long lean Rottweiler got a shp-shp. We ordered the X-Large but it ended up being an inch or two shorter. I just stretched the fabric a little and it worked. The good strong velcro stays in place and comes in very handy when your dog needs to defecate. All you have to do is roll and tuck it in to get the suit out of the way.
