A little difficult to remove the old gear but I managed by removing the old rubber from the old one. Used pliers to hold and wrench to remove. Not the fault of the food but given no directions so I hid. Now we can use our blender again.

After destroying the original part on my blender I found this. They're nothing more than a cheap piece of plastic and the blender's main point of failure, but luckily these replacement parts are easy to install, and since they're likely to wear out just as much as the original parts, buying them in small multiples is a hassle. good idea and not expensive.

I used this kit to replace a broken clutch on my Kitchenaid mixer and it works great. My blender was heavily used for many years, sanded many times, and the old clutch came loose immediately with the wrench that came with it. The included "wrench" is junk and totally useless as other reviewers point out. This is a soft metal that bends/distorts easily, allowing the shaft to rotate when you unscrew the drive knob. (It will take you a few seconds to realize this is happening since you can't see it. It's a bit useful to use as a base to protect the base of the blender if you have a screwdriver or crowbar use it to pry off the old drive handle. I recently bought this to replace a rubber coupling that melted while mashing hot broccoli for broccoli cheddar soup. Never blend anything hot in the blender. The rubber will just melt and I don't understand why KitchenAid decided to make this piece out of rubber. Stupid idea! The hardest part was removing the old clutch, which took almost half an hour. But thank God for the little tool. It helped remove. One thing you need to know when removing the clutch is that you have to turn it clockwise.
