get the job done Well built!

Just what I needed for work. A much cheaper alternative to buying separate cables and cords to just connect my mics to XLR inputs, this adapter makes it effortless. Properly hooked up to the Zoom h4n, Sony EX3 and Panasonic H150 everything worked great before I wrote this review. It will surely bail you out and is now a necessary 'just in case' backup adapter. There are no cons as it is a simple product with an exceptional result.

Pros
  • is clear even for the old

Very durable adapter, may not work if you need to power the microphone.

Used to connect a RodeLink wireless system to a Sony camcorder and it works. It's made of metal and is very heavy for its size, so it must be pretty thick metal. I can't imagine this thing going down unless it gets wet or something gets caught in the jack. I'm not an audio engineer so I won't talk about balanced or unbalanced. I have good volume and no hiss. One more thing, maybe I can save someone trouble. I actually bought a second one and a Rode Video MIC GO which requires power from the…

It looks great and works great with my Audio-Technica ATR6650 Shotgun.

Looks great and works great with my Audio-Technica ATR6650 Shotgun Microphone (3.5mm plug) and Panasonic HC-X1000 camcorder (XLR plug). This Rode adapter also looks good. With an AT mic attached, it basically looks like I have a device with an XLR connector attached. The Audio-Technica mic I have delivers the same tone on the tip and ring jacks and I understand the Rode adapter expects the connection. If your microphone only has tip-to-sleeve connectors (not tip-to-ring-to-sleeve), the Rode…

Excellent electrical performance but mechanical issues.

Works well but has mechanical problems. I haven't found a simple adapter like this with the same good electrical performance - most others have ground loop problems, poor shielding, or just can't pass phantom power properly. It's a shame Rode lowered the price on the connector mechanics, otherwise it's a VERY well made, compact product that will work with mic systems that may or may not require phantom power. . Holding the mic/cable firmly on the table always worked well, but I got static with…
