Great product - would buy again. I've read that those who bought a newer version of the ZD100 were unhappy. This worked for me. It took a razor blade to really harden the material, but it removed a TON of other material in seconds. One tube lasts for about 6-8 cleanses and I used about 3 cleanses at once (one at a time). Be sure to open all windows and turn on fans as there will be a lot of smoke for a few minutes.

First I tried a cleaning method or two I found on YouTube which only made things worse. This did a great job of removing the sticky layer. One of my attempts at using YouTube involved a baking soda paste that ended up clogging the vapor holes and causing the second problem. This cleaner removed brown/black deposits on the iron but did not clean the steam holes. I called Rowenta customer service. They told me to use self-cleaning instructions (didn't even know there were such) but it didn't work

Works! My wife was ironing my pants at too high a temperature and the soleplate of the iron was coated with something (molten material from the synthetic component of my pants?) which made it difficult to move smoothly across the surface.
