Custom size

Bought and trimmed the bristles to fit my odd sized chimney. It took me a while to cut them all out but now I have a great chimney sweep brush to match. I can't believe how the ash and soot got this thing out. I placed the ring on the side of the bar and used the two rope method. money well spent.

Pros
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • So far so good

Works, but not enough - cleaning tools

Larger for best fit. It works, but it required a lot more cleaning and sideways pushing. If the size was 0.5-0.75 inch larger, it would be correct for the advertised size. If I let go of it it would fall off easily to bake under its own weight with only one bar attached. I measured again and my chimney is exactly 10 inches inside. The brushes have been touched but not fully cleaned. I had to turn it a quarter turn each time and then all the soot was gone. If it were denser, building it would be

Pros
  • Regular chimney cleaning helps prevent fires
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

This is NOT a 10 inch brush as advertised!

I have a 10" chimney so I ordered a 10" brush. When I opened the box, I found out pretty quickly that it wasn't a 10" square. I measured the stubble and it was more like a 9.5 inch square. I tried it anyway, thinking I might still be able to knock some of the debris off the tile walls, but the corners of my chimney tiles are curved and the brush corners don't compensate for that, so the corner bristles made contact with the corners of the tile, but none the bristles touched the side tile walls.

Pros
  • Chimney brush
Cons
  • Wrinkled

Rutland Products. Best in Brushes

have always been of the highest quality and deserve great reviews. This product is no exception. A dense brush with very stiff bristles. The bristles become active again after use. The chimney brick in mine has rounded corners and this brush cuts the dirt off of them. Excellent goods

Pros
  • Oil Tempered Spring Wire for strength and longevity
Cons
  • Lightly Wrinkled

Works but Small Optimal Cleaners

Packaging needs to be larger for optimal fit. It works, but it required a lot more cleaning and sideways pushing. If the size was 0.5-0.75 inch larger, it would be correct for the advertised size. If I let go of it it would fall off easily to bake under its own weight with only one bar attached. I measured again and my chimney matches the 10" inside exactly. The brushes touched but didn't clean completely. I had to turn it a quarter turn each time and then all the soot was removed. If it were…
