The perfect purchase for me, exactly what I was looking for!

Great lens! I am very glad! Pros: 1. Small size, and therefore weight. In museums, you need to leave your backpack in the storage room. I carried this lens in my pocket. With a full frame lens, such a number will not work. :) 2. Good price 3. Sharp. I shot indoors on F4, I did not notice any problems. Has cons: Samyang lenses do not have a microcircuit inside that transmits aperture information to the camera. Because of this, the device does not always correctly understand how much light…

Strong distortion Good price

Sharp images, good price and very compact, but too much distortion for me. Set it to infinity and everything is sharp from 3ft to infinity - who needs autofocus? A bit new, but it's been a while

Great fisheye lens for camera and photography

I am very impressed with Samyang's 8mm fisheye lens. It's manual focus only, but with an 8mm lens that's not too much of a problem (although a proper distance scale with depth-of-field markings would be nice). I mostly just use the sharpness indicator on my XE-1. At f/5.6 it's pretty sharp all around with little light falloff in the corners.

  • Sleek design

  • Clarity

If you like fisheye buy this

I've been shooting seriously since 2009. Always wanted a fisheye but gave up as it's a specialty lens that (I thought) wouldn't be used very often. Since I bought this I've been using it quite a bit on my XT1. The lack of autofocus doesn't really bother me, especially with wide-angle shots. juliannaa43AF will make it more expensive anyway. The photos were camera rolls.

Affordable fisheye entertainment for Fuji

Pronounced fisheye effect reduces its usefulness (for me). Lens manufacturers have approached 8mm with straightness. If that's what you want, look elsewhere. The curvature is a bit frivolous here - but the lens looks sharp, the color is good. On a Fuji camera, this is a manual focus lens, although focusing at such a wide angle can be overkill. Build quality is good; Fit and finish are fine. I chose the silver finish to remind myself during use to reset the camera to autofocus when shooting…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Great lens, good for camera and photography

I've recently become interested in night photography, especially sky shots. I was looking for a fast fisheye lens at a reasonable price and found the Samyang 8mm. I am very happy with this lens on my Fuji XT2. It's sharp, the build quality is good, it's small and light and it's very easy to focus manually - just set it to infinity and you're good to go. An integrated lens hood protects it while the lens cap stays securely in place when not in use. It even comes with a decent storage pouch. I've

It's amazing how sharp this lens is

Pros:* Wow how sharp this lens is at 2.8! I haven't done any static testing yet, but in practice it's sharp corner-to-corner even at 2.8.* Small size* Focus is difficult. I usually dismiss this as cheating, but in this case I'm happy to install it and know it won't move. The depth of field is really great with this lens, so focusing is usually not that critical * Strange. I love a good fish eye and it doesn't disappoint. Cons: *There is no Lightroom profile for this lens. Samyang should make…

Well done Sharp lens with flaws

I used it for my weekly backpack and found the color to be different left to right which suits most shots. Can discoloration be caused by uneven lens coating? I shoot equiangular spherical panoramas (360x180). There are NO depth of field (DOF) markings on them, only distance markings. I had to use an app to figure this out and lock focus at hyperfocal length for my aperture setting. The lens is sharp and durable, a great lens for my use. Keep in mind that this is all done by hand. Update: I…

Newly available.

First of all, you should be aware that fisheye distorts the image intentionally. Other FEs have one star ratings because the buyer didn't know. Secondly, to use this with a Fuji body you have to go into the menu and set 'Record without a lens' to 'ON' as there is NO electronic communication with the body when using this lens. I think that could also apply to Sony. I don't have any other fisheyes to compare it to and comparing it to non-fisheyes is problematic. In the absence of laboratory…
