Good drive but warms up

So far this drive has worked fine for me. It runs hotter than any other flash drive I've ever used. It's hot even when you're not using it; This is probably due to the large amount of memory. It's a metal and appears to be able to dissipate some heat. If you're using it with a laptop, it's likely to affect battery life. So you might want to turn it off when you're not using it.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Some problems

Good build quality (metal) USB C and USB A Comfort Decent speed Read speed: 160.992 MB/s (sequential, 5 tests average) Write speed: 53.89 MB/s (sequential, 5 test average) Ideal for portability and data storage on the go. Useful for most USB-C and USB-A compatible devices. Would recommend but annoying at how big the price difference is for this metal version.

The drive showed promise but failed the durability test.

"Feels" solid BUT the clamp holding the spinning disc came loose several times - once in my pocket and once when trying to unplug the disc from the USB Connection to pull all within 1 month of ownership. Not good at all. At first I was very happy to have found a drive that was meant to be durable and based on my previous spinning USB drive I was hesitant but optimistic. But, unfortunately, this spinning drive has the same problem - the lack of durability of the rotating spinning connector in…

The first was defective. Looking forward to a replacement next month.

Purchased to back up our Samsung Note 9 and S9 Plus with 256GB and 512GB SD cards. MUST be compatible with these devices. No phone recognized the hard drive. I connected my current Windows 10 laptop as well as a desktop and neither device recognized the drive. Downloaded the SanDisk Storage Zones app but the drive is still not recognized. So I returned this failed drive for a replacement. I bought it on September 29th, returned it on October 7th and today, November 2nd, I am still waiting for…

All the Pros: USB Drives

I can't fault this USB C/A drive. I like the plastic version except that it feels a little flimsy on the USB-A side, but the metal version is solid, heavy and I'm not worried about it wearing out over time. Very fast transfer speed, very small profile (USB-A port width and nothing else), easily fits next to other drives/cables on the back of Mac mini. I like everything about it. Even the hinged lid is better: the plastic version is easy to move, while the metal version is much firmer, which is…

My new Sandisk Ultra Drive Luxe USB Type-C 256GB flash drive has a durable body. This is a very fast USB 3.1 generation(1) compared to other USB 3.0 and 3.1 devices I've had in the past. It's very handy in my pocket and it's smaller than my keys and it's crazy! I had several other "hard plastic" Samsung USB sticks and they all broke on my keychain. This metal case "rocks the house" and this is the product I have been looking for for a long time. Yes I know there are other metal cases out there…

Truly luxurious, amazingly small and durable

Bought as an upgrade to an aging LaCie PetiteKey that has been on my keychain for (literally) eight years. The sizes seemed small enough to be a good replacement, but even that didn't prepare me for the reality of its size. This thing is small, really small (especially for USB 3.1). It's very durable, unlike flimsy flash drives from other manufacturers (or even other SanDisk offerings). "Lux” is not an exaggeration. This is a premium flash drive in every way. It feels like a solid piece of…

Amazing Value - Computers and Accessories

I paid $37.99 for the 256GB model at the time of purchase, putting it on par with the competition. Unfamiliar with the metal variant of this flash drive, I bought the plastic variant first, not happy with the build quality shortly after receiving it. So I returned it and bought a slightly more expensive ($1 more) metal version. I can't stress enough how well worth the small premium - I was wondering why they made a plastic version with a lower build quality in the first place. Yes, as others…

Not worth the money or the headache.

First I looked for a USB-C stick. I mostly see duplicate drives. Certain USB-C flash drives are either cheap or overpriced. It's great for my price range and I don't need to overdo it buying 1TB or anything. I thought 256GB would be ok because it's USB and not an external hard drive. I feel like I don't have the strength to expect it to meet my file criteria. I came across various SanDisk dual drives like "Ultra Dual Drive" and then "Ultra Dual Drive Go" but after reading their reviews. There…
