This carrier has worked great on both of my saltwater aquariums!

I had a big problem with diatoms. I've never had big spikes in nitrates, so I figured my water and the silica in the sand were to blame. After adding the filler, I wiped down the glass and mixed the sand, then increased the water flow from the tide filter and printhead to circulate the debris. After a week I have no signs of diatom growth! It's still minimal in my small tank, but I didn't stir the sand like I did in my 55 gallon tank, but I'm happy with how clean my tanks are now!

    Works great!: Aquarium water treatment

Have been using this for many years when I have had problems with black bristles/beardweed and cyanobacteria/blue-green algae. It works great and I've been using it ever since. The mesh pocket makes it very convenient to use. You simply place a pre-filled, sealed pouch in your filter without the mess of bulk-packaging. It removes phosphate from the water very effectively and claims not to put the removed phosphate back into the aquarium. I use it in a freshwater aquarium in a small external…

    This stuff really works

Great stuff! My phosphate levels were so high I couldn't measure them for over three weeks! I change it every four days and after a few more weeks I was actually able to get my phosphorus levels. Buying a ready made bag is expensive if you are in the same situation as me. My last purchase was for a 1 liter container and then I just measured it out and put it in a small mesh bag. I will always have it in my aquarium just to keep phosphate levels at or near 0 zero. My plants are thriving much…

IT WORKS! Great solution for brown diatoms

I am struggling with brown diatoms in my aquarium. It was so bad that after cleaning and a 50% water change it grew back within an hour! Water change 50% every other day. While my fish were doing fine (and really growing and thriving with all the frequent big water changes), I was disappointed to see brown diatoms making a comeback and making my tank so unsightly. 1 bag of Fosgard, washed, put in a filter and boom - within a week the number of diatoms was significantly reduced. I was even able…

Goodbye diatoms! - Aquarium water treatment

That saved my aquarium! I had SO bad time with brown algae (diatoms) taking over EVERYTHING. After almost giving up on my planted tank I tried this and everything cleared up. My local water is very high in phosphates. At first I tried following the instructions and removing it after 3-4 days but the algae came back. Now I just leave it in my HOB filter permanently. I have tested my water 1 week after leaving it there and again 2 weeks later and I still have enough phosphate to feed my plants…

It's starting to work, which is good.

Slow acting but helps bring phosphate levels back under control. I have seen levels above 2 on the visual comparison scale. I started using PhosGuard and quickly realized I needed a better way to measure. So I bought an ultra-low ppb reader and used it as soon as my levels dropped below 200 ppb. After about 6 weeks of using two bags per week, levels stabilized at around 60 ppb without massive water changes. Tank 125 liters. reef with 40 gallon sump. Perhaps using three packs might speed things…

vicious circle suitable for fish and aquatic animals

This product was recommended to me by a casual aquarium enthusiast who contacted us at Petco. We're new to the sea aquarium game and of course we asked the guys at Petco a lot of questions. This random member of the aquarium elite steps in and keeps giving us his two cents after asking us about our pH levels, nitrates, nitrites, salinity, etc. I often come across this nonsense at Petco, Petsmart, and other exotic fish companies. I noticed that aquarists behave like high school graduates, who…

Great filter media but make sure it has good water flow

This product works as described and I recommend it to others. I've had a problem with phosphates in my saltwater pool for a while. at work because some of my macroalgae collapsed and decomposed in a place I couldn't get to. I also had, unbeknownst to me, a reverse osmosis/deionization filter system that didn't pull all of the phosphate out of my make-up water. In the end, I was able to get a better handle on the problem with PhosGuard. This is good because the excess phosphate was actually…
