Perfect fit for Johnson 1990 9.9

Worked perfectly for my 1990 9.9 Johnson. The only downside is that the "shank" wasn't long enough for my application. Not long enough to stick through a 3/4 inch naval layer on a custom cheaper console. I had to drill through the inside of my console to make it stick out.

Pros
  • Clamps: 6
Cons
  • Quick Guide

Ignition and choke switch (Johnson 60hp bass rail mounted 1989)

Package includes switch, screws, two keys and general instructions. The switch terminals have been identified on the part body. Both the rotating and pressing parts of the switch were smooth. The thread of the mounting screw was tight. My only complaint I have is that a clamp screw isn't fully tightened, it will work but not very desirable. I used a screwdriver as I slowly tightened it. Obviously there is a problem with the thickness of the material or the weak metal. Oh the switch markings on…

Pros
  • Ignition switch for most OMC inboard and outboard engines
Cons
  • Cord shorter than other lockpicks

Saved the day! good fit for switch

Used as a direct replacement for an old Johnson 40 where the original switch failed and fell apart. Easy repair. BONUS: This engine had a cylinder drop for no apparent reason. After all the typical checks, cleaning the carburetor and fuel system, a faulty switch was found. After replacing the switch, it works like new.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not sure

Fits and works perfectly!

This ignition switch is perfect. It replaced the one I bought from West Marine a year ago with an extended stem that broke trying to rotate further! It was utter rubbish and cost more than triple what it was sold for. This one fits better, has a regular length shaft, feels good and works well. I will never shop at West Marine again.

Pros
  • Free for educational use
Cons
  • Fits

Great replacement part

I bought this product 3 months ago for my 1992 40hp Johnson/Evinrude 4-stroke engine. The previous owner lost the keys so I just replaced the ignition. This is a very easy replacement for OEM parts, just mark or photograph the wire connection points before disconnecting. Also, disconnect the batteries before beginning this task. My friend was shocked when he tried changing seats for the first time. They also duplicate keys at most hardware stores, so that's a plus.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Something different
