Good price - good support

This product was selected mainly because of other reviews and the warranty period. If they give a 5 year guarantee it should be pretty reliable. None of the other brands I checked have such a long warranty. Installs quite easily, although the installation guide is a bit vague unless you're very PC savvy. With a relatively new PC configuration, this shouldn't be a problem. After installing Windows XP, only 111 GB capacity was reported. After I emailed Seagate support, they explained the…

Good replacement for old machines

Just good hardware to keep your computer running smoothly. Matched my original hard drive which worked fine for many years before needing to be replaced.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Annoying

The New Low Standard for Seagate Hard Drives

Because of the rave reviews Seagate hard drives have had, I've bought several of these drives over the past few years. The first two (80GB drives) I bought worked right out of the box, but I returned them to Seagate for a replacement (after about six weeks and some complaints, they admitted they didn't have a replacement on hand, and sent two 160GB hard drives as replacements) and had no further problems with it. Unfortunately a lightning strike destroyed my computer last summer and I've been…

Excellent warranty service, works great

I bought the predecessor of this (7200.7 120GB vs 7200.10 120GB) a few years ago and it worked great, ended up turning it into a 3 disk RAID array included (the other two were of this model). The original eventually failed, and I gave it to Seagate and got a 200GB hard drive for a fee (another 7200.7). When I called to explain that I needed another 120GB drive to be symmetric with the other drives in the RAID I was told they didn't have a 7200.7 @ 120GB at all. Not only were they unwilling to…

Great upgrade. Best in Datastore

I bought this hard drive to replace the main OS drive that died in my old (above) Compaq EXS. I was just looking for something to get the job done, but was very impressed with the difference in performance this drive offered me. It's also inaudible, unlike the previous drive, which rattled like an old Buick. So I can't recommend it. I lost a bit of faith in Seagate products in the 90's, but I'm glad to see that they're making quality hardware again.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Negative gift
