Useful complement to other sets of miscellaneous discs

These 3000 grit discs are best for buffing smooth surfaces to a glass like shine. Most diamond kits only come with one 3000 grit wheel. If you do a lot of polishing you will find that you do a lot of 3000 grit work and need this kit.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Not sure

Scratched my counters.

Just bought these for polishing stone countertops in a house we just bought. The plan was to start at 1500 grit and work up to 3000 grit. Both pads were used on a DA buffing machine and both severely scratched the countertop. I don't know how many people have been successful, but they haven't worked for me.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Only available in white

Excellent pads. suitable for sanding discs Backing Pads

These pads were used on a side grinder to finish some etched marble worktops. I've only done about 5 square meters but so far they're working well and seem to have enough life. The only thing I noticed is that the velcro on the rubber bottom has come loose. I managed to re-glue it so it's not a big deal.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Great for granite! in the Abrasive and Finishing Materials section

My husband makes granite countertops for a living. It goes through many polishing circles. He said they are amazing for the price. He was glad it came with a backing and that it was rubber so it flexed with the stone. He's polished 3 sinks so far and it's still holding up. I'm not sure how long they will last but for the price he's quite happy with them! We will definitely order again!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • I will add later

Works as supply brands.

I have been making granite countertops for over a decade and have used many polishing pads. They actually work better than some manufacturer brands. I used them for vanity. I polished the sink and backsplash and they still look new. The price makes it even better. For craftsmen who want to use it to polish the top or (face) of granite, this will not happen. You need a lot of skill and wet pads.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Rubber pad detaches from Velcro disc holder in less than 2 minutes

Polishing pads are pretty good, but they rely on Velcro to hold them to the rubber base of the disc. I used a standard variable speed polisher/grinder. I used 60% speed rather than full power. I had the velcro attached to the rubber base off in less than 2 minutes. I had to invent another method of attaching discs so I could polish a piece of marble. As I said, the polishing pads work quite well, but the rubber pad with Velcro does not at all. I've polished soft marble, can't imagine it…

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
