Description of 🚲 Enhance Your Ride with the Shoei Shield CWR-1 PHOTOCHROMIC Visor: Perfect Fit for X-Fourteen, RF-1200 and RF-SR

Transitions Photochromic technology allows visors to automatically and seamlessly change from clear to dark in sunlight. The process works when photochromic dyes embedded into the lens or shield react to UV light, changing levels of darkness with the sun. When UV light is removed, a chemical reaction driven by ambient heat reconverts the activated photochromic molecules to their original, clear form and the lens fades. The CWR-1 Photochromic Pinlock face shield fits SHOEI's X-Fourteen, RF-1200 and RF-SR helmets.

A must have if you hate wearing a second visor

Definitely wish I had bought this visor in the first place, no tinted visor saves me from carrying mine around a transparent visor around. The transition is pretty quick, and here in New England it gets dark enough for daytime skiing. I don't like the price, but I don't regret the purchase at all.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Don't like it at all, all great

WARNING: Working less than four months after purchase!

When I first bought this sign I was amazed at its performance. It worked like magic. Currently. in less than four months, it hardly darkens in direct sunlight. As expensive as this shield was, I expected a lot more utility from it. I contacted Shoei to see if there is anything they could do for me but I won't hold my breath. We are very sorry to have bought this defective product.

Good but not great product!

The transition works, but life in California isn't as dark as we'd like. If you live in a temperate climate, this is great because the transition between light and dark is nice and fast enough. If you go into a dark tunnel or similar during the day, you may have to open the visor until it adjusts. My office has an underground car park and I have to open my visor to achieve a reasonable level of darkness.

This shield is amazing, I've been using it for a few months now.

This shield is amazing, I've been using it for a few months now and haven't had to change it yet. It might get a bit darker, but since I don't have to carry two shields, I can live with that. It changes color based on the intensity of IR radiation, not brightness. This means that in the evening, when the sun is low and there are few rays, it tends to get clearer. Again, this isn't a huge problem as it only lasts about 10 minutes in the evening when it would be nice to be darker and ride in the…

Expensive but works.

Pros: - Quick opacity change. It seems to get darker mostly as I walk across the parking lot from my office to my bike, and it doesn't take long before it gets lighter when it's not in the sun. - Impact resistant. On a ride through the mountains of southern California, a few pebbles got me right in the face, and the only thing that remained was some loose dirt that had been brushed off. Cons: - Price. This is nearly triple the price of a standard Shoei shield. Not very dark. I have sunglasses…

Commuter's Friend Fits Helmet Accessories

I drive 55 miles from San Jose to San Francisco every day, year-round. My journey home from the office will most likely involve changing light conditions on the same trip, from bright light to complete darkness. With my visor clear, I plan to stop at sunset to remove my sunglasses, but what if it gets dark early here because the sun is behind the mountain, but I know it'll be light again in ten miles? And what about the change in weather - it's sunny here, halfway to the peninsula it's raining…

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Useless Features

When ordering I was concerned about some of the reviews. But after a few months I'm still completely satisfied. Sometimes I go outside before the sun comes up and I need a clean shield. After sunrise I had to stop and change shields or fight the blazing sun. Other times I stay home after sundown and have to stop and go from smoked to clear. No longer! While it's an expensive shield, I don't think it's worth worrying about limited visibility and stopping to switch shields. Also, my shield still…
