I like this thing the most in camera lenses

I love this thing. Images are sharp and apart from the extra coverage I don't even notice them. The biggest surprise for me was that it auto-focuses at all apertures. I've read that f8 is the limit, so I expected that using a large lens would mean shooting wide open if I wanted to use autofocus, but that's not the case. I've shot autofocus images up to f22 and I'm very glad I bought it. The attached picture of the squirrel was taken from about 30 feet. The listed focal length for this shot is…

Good extra range

TC-1401 adds good extra range and allows you to take good photos. It's good. The bad news is that it affects a lot of different things in your camera settings. Spot autofocus sometimes hangs and sometimes doesn't focus at all. Losing the ability to track a moving object is also a bummer. When using the TC-1401 with a Sigma 150-600 CI, I found that setting the lens to manual override seemed to help autofocus, and when that didn't help, adjusting my fingers holding the lens allowed me to fine…

Choose Sigma 1.4x TC-1401!

One of the best teleconverters I have ever used. I would even go so far as to say that the new Sigma 1.4x TC-1401 teleconverter performs even better with the Sigma 150-600 Sport than the Nikon TC 1.4x on Nikkor telephoto lenses. Sigma Sport 150-600 + Sigma TC-1401 vs. Nikkor 200-500 + Nikon TC-14E III was an interesting competition. After several days of shooting with my colleague, the Sigma Sport and TC-1401 was the clear winner. Autofocus is fairly quick, although the Sigma Sport focuses…

Sigma 1.4 Teleconverter

I bought the Sigma TC-1401 teleconverter because Canon teleconverters cannot be used with Sigma lenses and Canon cameras, but Sigma TC can be used with both Sigma lenses on Canon cameras and Canon lenses used on Canon cameras. I've been using the Sigma TC 1401 on my Canon lenses for many years and while I haven't done any specific testing on the templates, I haven't noticed any difference in IQ when using the Sigma and Canon 1.4 teleconverters. The Sigma 1.4 is only 80% smaller than the Canon…

This is a great auto focus teleconverter.

This is an excellent teleconverter for the modern Sigma 150-600mm lens. Even at f9 it has autofocus. Note that this reduces the maximum aperture but still produces sharp images. When shooting wildlife or sports, for which they are typically used with long lenses, it can be difficult to achieve shutter speeds fast enough that bright light is required. I use this teleconverter on Sigma 150-600 Contemporary on Nikon D7100. Please note that it ONLY works with three lenses marked by Sigma, namely…

Works great once you know how to use it.

This is great BUT you need to learn this tool. My experience with these teleconverters was with the Nikon D7500 and the Sigma 150-600c telephoto lens. A lot of people will scold teleconverters, and I myself first bought the TC-1401 and didn't like it. I didn't understand some basics of photography and COVID gave me a better understanding as I was on a break from work. I had poor results at first until I tried again a month later on a bright sunny day. Then I spent time learning how to use it…

Pros
  • There is something to it
Cons
  • May hurt
