PhoenixPhoto not the best

I don't recommend the Sigma 50mm due to poor autofocus performance, but in my experience the lens I got didn't work properly with the Sony a7p3. It's slow and laggy, sometimes the camera and lens don't communicate when you have a black screen for about 20 seconds and then light up. As a professional photographer this is not normal and I would recommend using a native Sony (I have a 24-120, love it). in restocking fees if the item was defective. I will never buy anything from them againโ€ฆ

Decent lens. on Lenses for mirrorless cameras

Dust seems to get through the ring onto my sensor. I don't shoot in crazy dusty conditions, but my back pocket has horrible velcro that squirts white particles at anything I need to blow off/brush off. It seems that is exactly what is happening. That would be my biggest complaint. I think I'm better at portraits than landscapes so far. Close-ups seem to be the best place for this lens. The autofocus seems to chase where my native lens fails. I wasn't too keen on wildlife/sports/videos to beโ€ฆ

Price for sharpness ๐Ÿ‘Œ

I remember borrowing a friend's 50mm 1.4 Sigma ART half a year ago and I just fell in love with the capabilities of this lens and a month ago finally I was able to pick it up. The sharpness is just incredible for this price. I use it with my A7Rii so my shots get quite detailed. The lens produces a very nice bokeh. They are well defocused and have a nice round shape. The autofocus isn't too bad but I don't care, I bought this lens for the sharpness of my images. The lens is quite heavy andโ€ฆ

  • Not as good as it says

This lens is probably the best version of the 50mm FF for Sony FF

This is my second 50mm lens since I started photography. My first 50mm was for APS-C (crop sensor), after switching to FF I bought 35mm, 85mm, 24-70 and 70-200. These lenses are great when you need to capture a specific image or when usable space is limited. I missed this lens in my portrait series. This lens is ideal when you're short on space, only want to shoot 1-2 subjects and want to focus on the subjects at hand. The image quality with this lens is amazing, I love the reddish/magenta tint

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Such good value for money!

Go straight and buy this. I bought this lens along with my Sony A7iii primarily for boudoir photography and it's amazing as hell. No noticeable distortion, and it handles chromatic aberration reasonably well, which is easy to correct in Photoshop. CA only appears in the brightest situations where darker objects are strongly backlit by sunlight, such as a tuft of grass, some hair, or a branch, and mostly only if you're shooting directly into the light. This lens is beautiful and heavy. I canโ€ฆ
