Review on 📷 Sony E Mount 50mm F1.4 Art DG HSM Lens by Rob Johnson

Go straight and buy this. I bought this lens along with my Sony A7iii primarily for boudoir photography and it's amazing as hell. No noticeable distortion, and it handles chromatic aberration reasonably well, which is easy to correct in Photoshop. CA only appears in the brightest situations where darker objects are strongly backlit by sunlight, such as a tuft of grass, some hair, or a branch, and mostly only if you're shooting directly into the light. This lens is beautiful and heavy. I can still shoot with one hand for a while, but I'm a pretty strong guy. The build quality of this lens seems fantastic as it is made of metal. It has a ton of glass and autofocus is very quiet. Eye AF is very fast and I shoot left and right. Just make sure you focus with your subject's eyes open first, as Sony's firmware doesn't seem to be able to detect closed eyes or even a face if something is covering their mouth. Although I'm pretty sure it's not the lens. The only downsides I can think of are the size, which I don't think is a downside, and the manual focus ring. If you do a lot of manual focus, which you don't need at 1.4 on an A7iii or A9, the focus ring only gives you 1/4 turn from lock to lock. This means that the focus is very sensitive to your input. I don't focus manually, so that's not a minus for me either. I just love this lens!
