📸 Sigma DP-1 Merrill Digital Camera: 46MP FOVEON X3 Sensor & 19mm f/2.8 Lens Review

If you're willing to put up with slow shooting and processing (both in and out of camera) and limited battery life (100 photos if you're on a budget), this is it the case small camera can deliver excellent performance. I couldn't believe how much more detail it had compared to my DSLR with a similar 20mm f/1.8 prime lens.

I did a lot of research and waited for the price to drop before jumping to this one. I'm so glad I did. The long recording times and the bulky Sigma Photo Pro are fine with me. Needless to say though: buy extra batteries. Even OOC-JPEGs rival (exceed?) the IQ of my Sony A7, at least in daylight. Of course, I'm not expecting miracles in low light, judging by other reviews. But for the price this is a fantastic product for daytime landscape or street photography. Foveon X3 FTW!

Very good camera for the price. Yes, it's difficult to work with, and to get the best photos out of it (which are just amazing) you need the right conditions. The camera is larger than IS0 200, the lack of an optical viewfinder takes some getting used to, the battery life is abysmal. But the images that come out of this camera rival those of significantly more expensive cameras. Who needs it? anyone who needs a backup camera with a large DSLR. It has the perfect depth for a good landscape camera. As others have said, it's terrible in low light, longer exposure times, poor battery life, poor playback time of a freshly captured image. Sigma even offers an extra battery for weak battery life.
