Great card for M.2 NVME drives.

Works great and allowed me to reuse my Samsung 960 EVO drive as a very very fast spare drive. Excellent speeds on the 960, about the same as when installed on my motherboard, which met or exceeded Samsung's advertised speeds with both Magician and Crystal DiskMark. No drivers were required and it booted from HDD until I figured out how to delete it so I could boot from my new 970 PRO motherboard. Supplied with fixing screw and nut. Super easy installation and I highly recommend it!

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Embarrassing

. I've been using this SIIG NVME adapter for 7 months now and it works great. I'm using it to add a Samsung 970 EVO NVME to my Gigabyte z97n motherboard. That works great! Ubuntu Desktop 16 will boot to a login prompt in about 3 seconds (after the BIOS screen has appeared, of course). I already had the latest BIOS on the motherboard, so the NVME hardware was recognized by the BIOS and worked without any additional drivers or configuration. It used to take almost a minute to boot Ubuntu 16 with…

Install ultra-fast M.2 SSD storage on your PC.

SATA SSDs are fast, but if your computer has PCI slots, you no longer have to deal with SATA, which's bottleneck is SATA 6Gb/s bandwidth. Get this card and a fast M.2 NVMe SSD card and you'll get storage speeds that are five times faster than the absolute top speed of a SATA drive. By the way, they work in the new Mac Pro.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Insanely slow

Best value for an NVMe m.2 to PCIe 3.0 x4 card adapter

Used with a 960 EVO 500GB drive for almost two years, from a 7 year old system to a newer system recently converted as additional storage. Close enough to the full advertised speed of an NVMe stick. 960Evo reads 3200MB, writes 1900 initially for reference. AS SSD shows 2543 MB reading and 1845 MB writing through this interface. Use SMART software to ensure the drive is not overheating in the dead zone on your motherboard. Samsung Magician does a great job of that with its drives.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options

Has been working fine for 8 months

I only bought this because I didn't have the right screw to mount my new Intel 660p NVMe SSD directly to the M.2 2280 port on my AsRock Z170M motherboard. These screws are patented and very difficult to find in the aftermarket. So I had to use something similar or buy a new motherboard. It works without any problems and without a heat sink on the SSD. Speeds exceed 1900MB/s in both read and write on the Seq Q32T1 according to Crystal Disk Mark, which seems as good as I could expect if it was…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

It works. he fits That's the most important.

Other NVMe adapters from other manufacturers do stupid things to save costs, such as: Or it doesn't make any sense at all that an adapter HAS TO FIT THE RIGHT PCIE SLOT. Not this card. This card just works. It fit into my PCI-E slot and I didn't have to bend the bracket to install it. It doesn't have headers for LEDs or an external LED, but it does have internal read/access LEDs if you have a case window. I miss and don't miss not being able to connect it to the HDD activity LEDs in my case, I…

That was great. While it lasted: /

This item is great and everything, definitely works but not for long. I bought it in early 2017 and now here I am in mid 2018 with an OS disk that is not recognized by my motherboard. I'm basically stuck like Chuck. I'll probably have to order a new one, but now I'm worried about durability. (16 hours plus or minus a few, never more than 24 hours at a time) - The whole system runs on its own liquid cooling circuit, no problem.

But does not work with all M-Key PCIe drives.

Just doesn't work. I tried this adapter with 3 different M.2 Key M PCIe drives. Two Liteon CX2 256GB and a Samsung PM951. Maybe I have a bad blockage? The blue power light comes on and all three drives work in my M.2 slot on my ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer motherboard, but they are PCIe Gen2 speed limited. Rating will be updated if/when I get it working. As promised, I said I'd update my review once I get the adapter working. As it turns out my Samsung PM951 had issues, it worked fine when…

Well made but no thermal solution

The adapter is well made and works with some M.2 SSDs. The card will not work with a Crucial MX200 M.2 SSD but will work with a Samsung EVO 960. However, there is no thermal solution and the SSD will get very hot. I purchased a set of SilverStone Technology M.2 SSD thermal pads from Revain and placed a 1.5mm thick pad between the SSD and the adapter. This lowered the operating temperature of the SSD. However, I have no idea if it's reasonable to put that much heat on the adapter, PCI-E slot…
