Accurate DC voltmeter. Consumes only 8.7 mA at 12.3 VDC

I bought green and blue to try. I used the blue meter in a small electronics project to monitor solar/battery charge. The voltage readings matched my brand voltmeter so I didn't have to adjust it. Uses only 8.7mA at 12.3VDC – Chris Aug 10

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Not the best

Small, easy to read, approx. 0.1V output

I have a small 12 volt solar system and wanted an easy way to check the battery voltage without a volt meter. I put alligator clips on the end and attached it to the battery rails. I checked with my voltmeter and if you round the voltmeter reading to the nearest 0.1 unit it's 0.1V which I can live with. The device is small, but the numbers are easy to read day and night.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Reasonable price, good day and night vision, just right for most needs.

I use them to monitor 2 24VDC batteries. Each battery voltage can be displayed at a 12 volt or 24 volt setting in combination with a shutdown setting to avoid wasting energy if not monitored for charging issues such as a low battery. I have a blue and green display, both are accurate, I can tell to within 0.05 volts, and it's wise to buy one for each 12 volt battery I use for my solar arrays.

Read accurately but fade when too much voltage is applied?

Nice little device for $6. Reads accurately on the battery. Although I think the sensor cannot work on Li-ion battery voltage. I bought two and both ran out within a short time. The product description does not state that they are rated for 12v. I suspect my bike is putting out too much voltage than the sensor can handle, causing it to shut down under load while riding. The sensor was connected to the ignition switch for 12V DC. I have seen that some sensors and displays actually show the…

Suitable for most applications

These are used in meterless power supplies used in amateur radio equipment. Most of these ham radios have a wide voltage tolerance of around 11.5v is also 15.0v. Both gauges showed a slight discrepancy in the voltage displayed, reading 13.4 volts when the actual voltage was 13.7. Not a big deal for my purposes, but keep in mind that these are not precision instruments. The blue display is also very bright if that's an issue.

  • Great for a small home

For the price, this is an amazing meter.

Bought two of these to keep track of two car batteries. My cars stood still for weeks last year. I didn't start three times because of a dead battery. So I bought two 1 amp chargers to keep the batteries going. Chargers only have LEDs, no gauges. So I wanted to control the voltage of the batteries while charging. For the price they are great. The accuracy of both is within 100mV. They don't last long, but they do what they're supposed to do. So for a cheap meter I think they work well. They are

Excellent panel voltmeter

Darsonval's old analog panel voltmeter failed, so I replaced it with SMAKN. This is a DC power distributor for my amateur radio equipment. I had to enlarge the hole a bit with a dremel tool, but other than that it was easy to install. I soldered the - and + wires and snapped the meter into the panel. The tension readings are exactly the same as my expensive PTO. The numbers are bright and easy to read throughout the room. However, the outlines of the unlit segments are slightly visible if you…
