Cool tools: Food sieves

This is very convenient for straining several cans of beans. Living in Minnesota, it's cold 6 months of the year and we make a lot of chili, so I use this item A LOT. Definitely nothing I can't live without, but it does allow for multiple tasks to be done while the beans are merging. One note: the strainer sinks into the jar so I have to remove it to rinse the beans between the drains. Otherwise, the beans, or anything that drains so to speak, will be hammered into the jar through a sieve.

  • understandable even for old people

This will NOT squeeze the liquid out of the tuna!

I'm not impressed with this filter. I just wanted him to squeeze all the water/oil out of the tuna. It seems that this particular strainer is more for draining liquid from jars like vegetables or potatoes, where it is turned upside down and the liquid just runs out. This does NOT apply to tuna, which requires you to press down to actually squeeze the liquid out of the can's contents. It fits the diameter of the tuna can but doesn't press on the tuna can to force the liquid out. Very…

Nice little device!

That's a great little device! I often use canned tomatoes, but I don't want the juice to come out of them; I've used one of these funnels with a filter in the past, but the holes are too small and clog easily, and the funnel itself fills with liquid while in the bowl. It was very frustrating. The holes in it are larger and allow the liquid to pass through more easily. I've found that this doesn't work as expected with tuna because the strainer sinks into the jar and there's no room for it with…

Works but could be better

I don't use it the way I see fit. I think a bar screen works much better, or a small calender. Once applied it takes forever to run off. Between this and my bar strainer, I like my bar strainer or any colander. The liquid lasts forever. Tuna is the worst thing you can drain. Grab the smallest colander and pop it in your sink to drain a can of tuna or a can of green beans. Corn, you know what I mean. It really isn't that useful or even fully functional that it's worth allocating drawer space. It

Works great, fits standard glasses, snaps in place and won't fall out.

Works great, just wish I could find it in my drawers when I need it. I bought this to make bean chili salad which requires both cans of beans to strain. Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of opening cans almost completely with a can opener and using the lid to strain the beans. The strainer is better because I don't have to deal with the sharp edges of the glasses, it fits all standard glasses and I can turn the glass upside down to strain while I'm doing other things. I can also shake the jar…
